I was in Texas, of all places - where he was born - when I found out but did not have a computer.
I just got back and was both surprised and disappointed that nobody mentioned it.
Even if that kind of s-kicker music is not your cup of tea, try out "A Good Year for the Roses" on YouTube.
I been waiting my entire born life for the Bears to make it to Pasadena and then listen to that song after the game.

The Possum was the best there ever was.

I think he was one of the best. I have a couple of his albums. His duets with people like his ex wife Tammy Wynette, Willie Nelson, even Keef Richards are outstanding. They don't make C & W singers like George, Willie, Merle, and Johnny Cash anymore. The modern crop are all hat an no cattle.

Suffice it to say, Concordtom would not approve of George's life.

A truly great singer, Frank Sinatra of his genre

Losing Johnny Cash was very hard for me. Listening to Johnny's music is like listening to America. But this guy was a big piece of C&W history as well, kind of like losing Johnathan Winters was a big loss to the history of comedy in our country. I hate seeing these people go.....

When Gram Parsons OD'd in 1973 in Joshua Tree his buddies tried to revive him with the old ice cube up the rear end trick but alas, to no avail. He was the father of Country Rock later cashed in on by The Eagles, Poco, and the like.
