Here we go with another 30 page thread with unfettered banter regarding the merits between Southern California and Northern California pro teams and their players.

This time it will include an amusing sidelight as to which city has the best plates of rice, beans and plantains outside of Habana

The only bad news for Dodgers fans is that this might save Don Mattingly's job.

You can choose one of the following for your franchise. Which do you pick?

Harper
Trout
Puig

Just sitting on the periphery and not following it closely,

I would say Trout. If he indeed does have all 5 tools, tough to say no to that.

Of course in today's world one needs a sixth tool... A head screwed on straight.

Definitely Trout. ESPN is building up Harper to be the next great in the game but I feel like Trout is the better player.

Easily Trout at this point. Unlike the other 2, he has shown that he can put up impressive numbers, consistently. Plus he's only 21. That said, what a start by Puig. It will be interesting to see if teams find a weakness. The most glaring I've seen so far is his lack of walks. Then again, Vlad Guerrero was a free swinger and he had a great career.

Let's see what happens when they start throwing Puig those curve balls (Pedro Cerrano??) ....

Evan Gattis !!!! Now that is good baseball knowledge ... The back story on this guy is awesome

Yeah, you just don't know with these guys until they've been around the league a bit and pitchers get a "book" on them. Could be that Puig crashes hard when they figure out what kind of breaking stuff he can't handle. Or maybe he's just a phenom; sometimes they happen. He certainly seems to have terrific power in his swing.

But yeah, right now I'd definitely take Trout. Already been around the league once and still tearing it up. Seems to have every tool there is.

Good baseball knowledge? Stop listening to so much Gary. If you follow the game even a tiny bit you have heard what Gattis has been doing so far this year.

He'll probably become more of a household name if he reaches the all star team

from a Dodgers fan's perspective...

I'd take Trout.. can't go wrong w/ that choice.

However, if I owned the team... Puig has that it factor. I don't know what it is, or how it is, but he has "it".

It kind or reminds me of when LeBron James entered the league... we had seen some highlights, heard about him, knew he was a freak, but were unsure how he'd fare against real competition... and then we got our doors blown off... and for the record, I can't stand LBJ, but the guy's awesome.

For the record, I can't stand Gary and haven't listened to that AM sports station since 95.7 the game started

As for Evan Gattis, I know a lot about what he is been doing this year and his incredible backstory .... I am rooting for him to keep doing well for the Braves and even though I doubt it will happen, he makes the all star team

Btw .. Nice guy as my son and I got him to sign his only major issue baseball card (three of them to be exact) when the Braves were in SF earlier this year

Go A's (18 wins in their last 21 games as of this posting)
