USA Today is doing their countdown of college football teams and Cal checked in at #95. Um...seems a little low but I suppose there's no where to go but up.

That write up of our team is really good by the way for a national rag.

Thanks for the info. It is a good writeup, and, partly because of it, I'm really getting more concerned about the season: inexperience, schedule, new systems.

It could be ugly.

Good overall assessment. My only disagreement was with his "forward look" to 2015. I actually believe that 2014 will be a much better year than 2015, as we'll have the even-year schedule advamtage and all those SR's on defense in 2014 ....

I actually like being the 95th. If we are going to be the underdogs, 95 is the way to go haha

It was in-depth but couple of big mistakes in the article. Mustafa Jalil brings very little? I think they whiffed on that one, Jalil will be a wrecking ball in the middle. Also if I read right Washington State Huskies, that actually is funny! Will be one of the most interesting seasons in awhile.

Go Bears!

I don't appreciate the comment of Goff being ahead of kline. Right now, no one is ahead and I believe no one is behind. Not enough information to make that statement.

It was more than a comment, it was the thesis of his view of the QB situation, and I agree there is no evidence to suggest that any of the three is so significantly ahead of anyone else that a few Fall practices can't change things.

It could be ugly as far as W/L record but I am hoping we see the beauty of the system/coaching and the future for our young players.

Let's just say no one was ahead enough at the end of fall that it mattered. Whoever upgrades themselves in off-season and early fall wins the job. And its the view of most insiders, like MB, that Goff will blue-shirt. However, the information re: Goff likely came from Sonny, and does reflect the coaching staff's opinion that Goff had a slight edge coming out of spring camp. I think the article was fair is stating its a three man race.

Few people know the college game nationally like Myerberg.

He will miss a few projections each year badly but I know of no one else who painstakingly analyzes in detail and ranks all 120 plus teams. And if you know his system, he is not saying there are 94 teams better than Cal - only that relatively speaking, he expects 94 teams to have better seasons.

On bright aide, he likes the coaching hire and thinks the team will be an offensive juggernaut in 2015 competing with the big boys. Now honestly, would that result be worth some growing pains ? To me the answer is "yes".

Actually I agree with his assessment of Jalil. He hasn't done crap. He may have tons of potential and be dominant in practice but he was non-existant as a sophomore and as a true frosh he played relatively sparingly. Until proven otherwise, Jalil is the most overhyped, under-producing player on this team.
