most vegas books have now opened with cal plus 16. the over/under is 66. i'm going with the bears with my heart not my head. any ideas on the total ???

I'll say over on the total. I think the only most likely way we win is if we can keep up with their scoring.

seriously though, it seems low. That means the betting public sees a 41-25 game. I'd take the over on both sides of that. I don't think there's been an adjustment yet to factor in our offensive style of play nor how awful our defense seems.

I would be surprised if the combined score is not more than 66 points, especially given the performance of Cal's defense so far this season.

Was it because of uncertainty about the OSU quarterback situation (resolved?), or because they usually don't publish spreads when a division 1 team plays a division 2 team...?!

I would definitely take the over. We should still be able to score, and with our injuries and a relatively healthy OSU, i think they'll hit the over by the 3rd quarter.
I'd put money on it, but I lost my betting allowance after the NU game =( Seems like my 350-1 odds on Cal as the BCS champion also won't happen.:headbang
