My favorite hit was in the Cal-Oregon game, I believe in 2006. I remember it was in Berkeley, and I think it was the rain game where the new turf in the south end basically melted. Anyway, DeSean Jackson went out of bounds on the Oregon sideline. Ducks tight end Dante Rosario punched him. The Cal players and sideline saw it and reacted, however I don't believe that a flag was thrown. Clearly a cheap shot though. Shortly thereafter, when the Ducks had the ball, Follett basically de-cleated Rosario with a perfectly legal, but absolutely withering blind side hit, and Rosario had to be helped off the field. The Bears sideline went wild. Today, that hit would be called targeting, but it was legal at the time, and along with the aforementioned hit on Tennessee's QB, one of many memorable hits by Follett. He was an awesome Bear, and unfortunately, I believe that his playing style ended up costing him an NFL career due to the damage it did to his neck. Loved seeing him play though. For those of you who are old enough to remember the Cal teams of the 70s, Follett reminded me of another linebacker I loved watching as a kid, Karl Crumpacker, who also had the benefit of one of the all-time great names for a linebacker. Dude could lay the wood.
