Something tells me we will beat USC...which would be twisted and cruel to win when it doesn't matter...and to have lost every time it meant a Rose Bowl.

Which part of rebuilding year(s) and new coaching staff do you people not get???

Just didn't think they would have to raze everything to the ground before they build it up again.

Didn't think Cal football could decline or get any worse than last year, but I was wrong. Honestly 1-10 and getting blown out by 22+ points a game is a real possibility. Dykes has problems with players and coaches and I don't know which one is worse. Sad, sad day.

Today shows how meaningless passing yards are. Goff has a record day and the same number of yards as Halliday but we're losing to WSU 44-22. Smh

Well we saw kline... I'm pretty sure Goff isn't the problem. Poor oline play, 3rd string walk on DBs, no pressure from the d-line... it's a mess. A lot of this was kind of expected this year... however the total regression of the RB play is a shock to me.

That doesn't generally come with acceptance of the floor dropping out entirely.

Pro teams have "rebuilding years", as they lose big names and jettison big contracts in advance of a good draft or free-agent signings. College teams, where turnover is the name of the game every year, don't just get years off as "rebuilding years". A new coach gets some time to adjust, but he doesn't get to lose every game without some signs of progress. So far, this doesn't look good.

I've been to every home game this season. I started watching Cal football as a student when we went 1-10 under Holmoe. For some reason I think the product on the field is nowhere as terrible as what I witnessed under the Holmoecaust. For one thing, I recall every time I went to a Holmoe game, I remembered hoping that we at least made it a competitive game against our opponent, with the expectation that we eventually lose. I do not feel that way when I sit down and watch this team. Perhaps, I am ill informed, naive, or fanatical. Whatever, it is hope springs eternal and my hopes, unfortunately, are in the future.

Rebuilding doesn't mean no progress. Rebuilding doesn't mean worse. This little bear is building with straw and the big bad wolf is huffing and puffing. We didn't expect the house to be done, but we were hoping to see some bricks go down.

Will Cal get the first pick in the draft?

We just lost to a perennial doormat by 3 touchdowns and our only win is clawing to a 7 point win against an FCS team that lost to Cal Poly and just got clobbered by 28 by fellow FCS team, Montana. I won't say you are uninformed, but I will say that reality has not sunk in yet.

lmaoooooo it's not just about the losses, it's about how we lost.

meanwhile, Montana is pounding Portland state. oh and that's when we were mostly healthy.

I've read your posts for years. I admire your posts and generally agree with you, but this post is a bit off. We can't build with bricks if we don't have bricks in the first place. The cupboard is bare. Tedford didn't leave us much. Perhaps I am wrong. I have drank a grey goose martini, a Bulliet old fashion and a beer.

USC will beat us again due to their pride in their football program.
We, on the other hand, will lay down quietly and die.

He really didn't. We're in the lowest part of the valley now... I hope.
