Tedford and Gould had it right. He's fast, but he's not a good RB. He's not very bright and lacks toughness. There is no excuse for all the fumbles.

He always goes for the home run and seems to take a vicious hit on every play.

Now finally we understand why Gould and Tedford were not starting him last year. I guess they were not total idiots.

It's weird... he does that jump stop thing all the time and instead of making guys missed it just gets him crushed almost every time. Needs to take that move out of the rotation.

On his first fumble it looked like miscommunication between him and Goff on the exchange. However... he's gotta hold on to the ball regardless

Just before he fumbled the last kickoff he handled, I turned to my son and said "Bigelow will try to be a hero and he'll fumble this kickoff." My hand to the heavens I predicted it right on the money.

+1. Bigelow is also a fumble machine.

Just wanted to acknowledge your post as I love little moments like this, and am always bummed that others aren't as tickled. It's the little things, especially after a loss like that. Pancakes

I think the first fumble was Lasco, not Bigelow.

So now, JT and Gould knew what they were doing. Perhaps this board should consider that the new staff knows its stuff also.

He really has stopped making that hard lateral cut he would use to escape and then accelerate. Number one reason for his shortcomings especially on returns. He may not ever be the same he was in high school, and he was spectacular then. I think the fumbling is all part of not being himself, not running freely, and yes, trying to make something happen. Its the knee/mind I am convinced by what I have seen.

Then you are thinking of the wrong play. His first fumble occurred well after a clean exchange. It was lasco's fumble that was on the exchange (and it was Lasco's fault)

Tough to do since the decision by the former in regard to BB5 is the opposite from the late preseason decision by the latter.

This board will consider it once the new staff starts to not get blown out at home by low-level conference foes.

BB5 has underperformed, but too much blame is being placed on his shoulders. Are we to believe that Lasco and Muhammad, in addition to BB, are ALL talentless failures? Put more of the blame on the young and ineffective OL, and most of it on the OL & RB coaches and, yes, on TF who runs the show.

I got that same impression, but only on the basis of that short footage before the game. Are his speeches shown on The Drive just as flat?

On Bigelow's first fumble, Goff tried to hand it off on his left side first while Bigs came from the right (there might have been a high snap as well not sure).

He would routinely bench Marshawn Lynch for fumbling. When his personal pets like Forsett, Vereen, or Isi fumble, who cares.

Isi clearly has a fumbling problem. Inexcusable for senior in his 4th year in the program. Why can't Gould solve this problem?

Also, no carries for Bigelow in the first half?!? Bullsh!t!!

SurvivorOf1and10fkaLEA;842027754 said:

Plus, I don't like the way Gould handled the RBs this year. Too many fumbles, and his insistence on playing Isi Sofele probably cost us games this year and CJ a shot at playing in the NFL. Also, we don't need a RB coach who insists on having additional powers and titles. Wouldn't miss him one bit.

Bigs ran to Goff's left, the blocking & the play was moving to the right.

Then he needs to work on that. The tone for speaking with media cannot be the same as the tone when trying to fire up or rally football players. It's not like the man lacks passion; he's shown it when arguing with refs and in post-game "handshakes" lol.

I can admit when I am wrong. There's a reason Bigelow didn't get the PT many of us wanted him to get. That said, Isi Sofele had no business playing ahead of CJ Anderson.

No, it's not that the old coaching staff and the new coaching staff both know their stuff, it's that neither of them know their stuff.

you got it right.

I don't ever recall seeing a Cal RB getting cracked that hard over and over again. And Bigs is not a 'big' back.
I worry for his health.

I see why you've only posted 22 times. It seems you have trouble piecing words and sentences together. I, for one, haven't a clue what you are saying.

The one thing that is clear is that you are also blind and can't hear if you think JT is anywhere near Dykes in motivation skills.

Let's not forget that Sofele's playing time was partly because he was an excellent pass blocker.

I've always felt the good running backs always have an uncanny ability to avoid the big hits, since they either 1) deliver the hits, themselves, or 2) take good angles so the defender doesn't square up on them (when #2 happens, that's how you break tackles). The fact that Bigelow consistently takes big hits in the open field is on him - he has terrible awareness. Compounding the fact, and something that probably bothers me more than most, is after getting wrapped up he always makes some gesture in frustration, as though he almost took it to house - note to Bigelow: you were not close to breaking it, stop showing your frustrations on field and giving the defense a boost in confidence.

Bigelow needs to benched

* Since the 2nd quarter of the Northwestern game (taking out his first four carries of the season), Bigelow has averaged 3.05 yards rush. At this point, he's the weakest rusher in an underwhelming rushing attack

* He has scored 0 points this season, while his fumbles have directly led to 14 points by the opposition! Think about that: by being on the field, he is net -14 points!

* The team, excluding Bigelow, has averaged a fumble once in every 41 touches; Bigelow has averaged a fumble once in every 17 touches - 2.5x's more than the rest of the team

I don't think he's learning anything by being on the field, and it's arguably hurting the team. Bench him and make him understand that fumbles are not acceptable. Five fumbles in five games this season

Sonny, in his post game comments, seems to agree with you. For whatever reason(s), the Bigelow of last year's fOSU game, has disappeared and been replaced by a different player, even if he looks the same and has the same name.

If they want someone to run the ball in the close red zone, where the hell is Gingold, either as a blocker or even better runner???? He got "discovered" as a Beast-type runner, pancake blocker but has disappeared.
