The OL looked better. The D played tougher (GOT to tackle, tho). Ervin is a tough runner - why haven't we seen more of him? WRs need to play stronger - they can't seem to get separation or clear the line as cleanly as they should. But, overall the team looked more competitive.

Home cookin' will help, as will another week of practice with the new OL lineup. Cal 31, AZ 20.

Ervin was not healthy until last week.

Although, it was a competitive game until the middle of this quarter.

I hope we will beat AZ, but the recent past history is not......

Regardless, I will be at the game rooting on our student athletes and hoping and praying for at least one more win this season.

At the beginning of the season (which seems so long ago now) I was sure we would beat AZ. I had no illusions to us having some magical season with multiple wins. Everything has changed now, everything. I am no longer sure of anything when it comes to the Bears...

Ka'deem Carey might run for 500 yards next week.

The yards will all come in the first half (and the first drive of the second half). After that Buh will have the defense dialed in.

The OLine did not look better. It looked far worse.

Amen - LT was horrible. Rigsbee rolled a few snaps and we only had 55 yards rushing until Muhammad scored against the scrubs last in the game.

I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say Cal will beat Arizona. But in the last 3 weeks, I feel like they are battling harder and harder. Defensively I see players in better positions to make plays than earlier this season. Even though the secondary looks awful overall, with more attention to detail they could be making some plays. Guys are doing a better job of fighting through blocks, and though they are still missing tackles, you can see that if they made the tackles the overall situation would be far less serious. I also see more communication between players and that's a good sign. Early in the season I think there was less communicating because I'm not sure they knew the system/assignments well enough to work with each other. As for the offense, the backs look to be running harder. The line is staying with blocks longer. The lineup last night in the OL was challenging to begin with, and I thought given the situation they did pretty well. Goff makes some good throws, and misses others. On a couple of occasions I couldn't tell if it was him or a missed assignment from the receiver that went bad. But he's young.....the team's young. I think the program was a bigger mess than anyone expected going into this. New positions, new assignments, new system, new culture....so many things that have to be addressed. It won't happen this year. There is a lot that needs to take place before we can expect "sure thing" victories. Coaches have their work cut out for them. And so do the players. Right now I think too many players are thinking instead of just playing on instinct. That comes with familiarity of the system and comes in time. This season the best we can hope for is improvement and effort. Next year, I think it's reasonable we can expect 4-5 wins and closer scores. Third season? Sonny will have a few recruiting classes under his belt, 2 years of experienced players and that's when we'll know for sure what we really have.

You're right on. Cal SHOULD beat Arizona, but that doesn't mean we will.

Just like we should have beat Northwestern and it shouldn't have even been close with Portland State.

We will beat Arizona.

Do you honestly think we will beat Arizona? That we will hold them to less than 45 points and less than 500 yrds of total offense after what you have seen this season? You my friend are a true believer. Don't forget, this is a team getting some votes for the Top 25 in one of the polls and Cal has given opposing players career days, Sankey had 241 yrds and Price had 376 yrds.

I do not think so, we held Eric Dickerson to 290 last night.

Boy, I'd like to have some of what you're smoking. If you think the OL is improving, you watched a different game than I did on Saturday. Our OL stunk as much against Washington as it has all season. They gave Goff absolutely no protection and just could not run block. Same story all season. And the D gave up 42 points, allowing many long pass and run plays, again. Nothing positive about our play in this game.

Do you guys ever give the other team credit? Sankey is a tough clever rusher who is able to make people miss. Mickens is supposed to be their fastest player. No wonder he got separation on Lowe, a safety, and had two long TDs. Price is a senior with a lot of experience around him and he was very accurate last night. One other thing. The Huskies wrap up their tackles, we don't.

Yep! That makes a big difference. Our tacking has been crappy all season.

Yes, in our game. UW certain didn't do it the week before, when they got clown stomped by ASU. UW is an above average mid-tier bowl team - nothing more. Our program is at its nadir and in the rebuilding process, but for UW fans, this seems like their ceiling under Sark (senior QB, playmakers, good recruiting depth) and it's not that good. So it actually may be worse to be a UW fan right now, if you think about it (taking out the sorry GSR discussion - which of course is hard to do).

Forget about Arizona, we should be worried about Colorado. I think that may be our only chance at a Pac-12 win.

Go Bears!

Agreed. Arizona at home may be slightly tougher than at a freezing CU. Both are not easy for us.
