When did they reinstitute the draft? Oh!! You mean the pro Football draft.

I guess you did not get a chance to watch any games this year!

Who will go to the draft early? Nobody for sure. These are the candidates though, from most likely to most unlikely. just my opinion, of course...

Kameron Jackson - shown some raw talent in a pass happy league that values CBs. Maybe. Dependent on NFL grade.
Khairi Fortt - talented. Maybe if he gets a good NFL grade.
Richard Rodgers - talented in a league that values a pass catching tight end. Dependent on NFL grade, but a legacy and more likely to stay all four years.
Michael Lowe - unlikely to be drafted high or get a high grade, most likely stay.
Avery Sebastian - talented, but unlikely coming off an injury
Moala - had a good year, more than likely to stay and improve status and conditioning all around.
Brendan Bigelow - flashed a minor little bit, still raw, unlikely.
Brennan Scarlett - talented, but unlikely coming off an injury
Moose - talented, but unlikely coming off an injury

Is Fortt graduating this year? Could he potentially be a candidate as a graduate transfer?

^ these are all guys that could go early.

fortt is 3 years removed from HS, so is eligible to declare of the NFL...if he wanted to.

Bigelow won't be drafted this year. NFL teams want consistency over possibly 1 home run run in a college football game, which Bigelow couldn't even do this year. CJ Anderson is probably a more NFL type back at the end of last year then Bigelow is this year, and even he went undrafted

CJ Anderson made the Denver roster and played a series tonight.

I know, he was a seriously underrated coming out of college and every Cal fan knew it. Yet he still went undrafted

Coleman...if he has a good combine he should go late 2nd or 3rd

Yup, underrated. CJ might be the last back from Cal going into the NFL for a while...the last of the Gould RBs. Kinda sad really because the string of RBs he prepared for the NFL is impressive.

I think Fortt is 4 years removed from HS, he is a RS Junior. I realize he can leave early, I just thought he was more likely to transfer as a graduate

So you mean graduate early from Cal and then transfer somewhere else to play 1 more year without sitting out...dont think that is in the cards for him

CJ would have been drafted if we had won more games and about 1/2 his total yards and TD were not negated by penalties.

I have no sense of what the locker room dynamics are like that always play a big role in these decisions. But a few comments:

-There's a 0.0% chance that Sebastian is drafted. A whole ago, I posted a link to a study that evaluated the impact of torn Achilles injuries on NFL skill players. A third never come back and the remaining two-thirds have a significant decrease in their performance level. I love Avery and hope he comes back, but he's facing tough odds.

- Fortt and Jackson: probably gone; seems that's their intent even if they are late round picks.

- Moala- tough one. Played well in spots. This may very well depend on how well he likes playing at cal and his relationship with teammates (like Lopa) and the staff. I suspect he stays.

- Bigelow - can't see him leaving early or NFL interest in him right now.

- Lowe : not gonna be drafted but would not surprise me if he doesn't come back

- Scarlett / Jalil: Not gonna be drafted with their
injuries right now.

Are Kam and Fortt really good enough to have any chance of getting drafted after the years they just had?

I just don't see it.

What a Nega bear. We put any number of people in the pros this year:
Ty Montgomery
Paul Richsrdson
Brandin Cooks
Nelson spruce
Bishop Sankey
Kenny guyton (earned free agent look)
Conner Halliday
Nelson Agholar
Numerous former D-1 Portland state players
Just to name a few.
I would argue we made a lot of kids a lot of money.

I think Vince D'Amato is the only player right now on the team that has a chance to play on Sunday next year.

Agree with this. Kam Jackson gives up about a 98 percent completion rate to his man and consistently plays 8 yards off of him. Coleman maybe gets drafted very late. Fortt? Please!

Cal will be one of the least impacted programs in college football by players getting drafted early of late into the NFL.

Fortt will declare and he'll get drafted. 4-5 round give or take.

The draft prospects of Coleman may surprise you. He started the season #46 overall on Mel Kiper's board. I've seen him listed as high as the #4 rated DT to as high as #15 (which put him in the 170s overall). It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see DeAndre go in the 3rd or 4th round.

Fortt has already transferred once (Penn St. to Cal). Why would he transfer again with a year left to acclimate to a new team?

Well maybe because he has not performed to his potential and has lost the confidence of his coaches at Cal.

Some players will not be welcome back for 2014. Just reading between the lines......

Looks less and less likely that Kline will be sticking around.

Per Faraudo:

Quote:

Asked about Kline, Dykes said he needs to do what is best for him. "Jared Goff is our quarterback."

While I can appreciate his support of Goff if Dykes doesn't coach him the **** up he deserves to be unemployed after next year.

So no competition during spring and fall? Because presumably I would think that there's once again open competition for every other position...just wait until Rubenzer comes in and we'll see how fast Dykes and Franklin go back on their word.
