This is truly a sign of a board in decline. The falloff in PSR (Post Success Rate) is pretty alarming.

According to the NAMSF (National Association of Meaningless Sports Forums),
the Bear Insider Post Success Rate has shown the following trend

2005: 1975
Yes, I realize that this is well above the theoretical value of 1000 which represents perfection, but this was immediately after the heady season of 2004 and the near fulfillment of the lifelong Rose Bowl dreams of posters across the world. It is almost twice the 1000 level because the multiple personalities on the board (average of 3.8 personalities per poster) were posting about 50% of the time
2006: 1050
A bit of a fall off, but success rate picked up strongly just before the Arizona game and even after the posting controversy around the sideline irregularities and Desean's big toe (Was the sideline made deliberately 6 inches narrower on the side where he stepped out? The evidence was conveniently washed away and we'll never know the truth)
2008 - 2012: 875 declining to 487
Yes, I'm skipping the 2007 year, because it is too painful to recall - the highs of the early season, the lows of the season after the OSU game. The years from 2008 to 2012 are grouped together here because they represent the decline of the program and the board here. Just a series of disappointments and meltdowns (you could "feel" the intensity before the Nevada game in 2010, and the "pistol whipping" at the hands of Kaepernick afterwards took the board to another low point on the downward trajectory)
This was also a period of the "Sunshine Pumper/Tedford Must Go" blood feuds - a dark time that ripped at the fabric of the board

That brings us to today. The PSR numbers are not final for this season (they won't be published until late January) but the projection is another number in the 400 range. And it is only in the 400 range because the same handful of posters are using their multiple personalities to artificially inflate the statistics.

Well, something has to be done about it.
With the average PSR numbers now, we are in danger of being put on cyber-probation. I'm not sure how best to manage this, but I know the answer does not lie in revisiting the dark side (No true poster wants to get Amy back on this board just to boost our PSR numbers).

No, the answer has to start with the core team here. So I'm calling on all board members here. In the words of immortal, imaginary coach Tony D'Amato (Al Pacino) in the movie "On Any Given Sunday":

"We're in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here and get the sh*t kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light!" (See the subliminal reference to Fiat Lux? So this is going to take the effort of all of us to reverse this decline.
I, for one, won't stand by and watch the board be put on probation.

First of all, Cal is a much more competitive place to post. It's sink or swim here; not like the Furd where you have spelling tutors, composition tutors and free jelly donuts.

Second, YOU DO KNOW that those were the years when Grey Bear was recruiting five star posters like Drunkoski and Blueblood. Me first Guys with big reps who couldn't hack it on the composition side, and were cancers in the posting room! Now we're back to recruiting solid two or three star posters-guys who may not know the difference between you're and your but are going to leave it on the page every post.

Agreed. Plus, didn't Phil Steele say we were the second youngest forum in CFB? We've had an inordinate amount of internet outages also. We're building a new culture around here and it starts with accountability to each and every other forum poster.

We can turn this around. I'm not sure about GreyBear though, he did bring in Richard_Lee and let him drink all the yellow gatorade he wanted.

What we need is to adopt a formulaic system from a high-school message board.

Would anyone share their winning secrets, maybe run an acclaimed seminar. We would also need year-round consulting (provided by employees and partners). That would give us an advantage over any other schools' football message-board consulting operation in the world!

Year round daily support would help Posters go from 10 messages and no responses to 1000 messages and as well as breaking national, state, and team records for responses! We want dramatically improvement in the quality of Posters' professional and personal lives by having more free time available as well as much higher message board success.

no way! I heard Drunkoski was given a kayak and a new Android phone and is now up to 3,000 posts on the Oregon State board—and he lured a bright new kid with real .gif talent to that forum, by showing him pictures of Tedford's dog in a "Furd sweater on Mt. Diablo.

I mean, what kinda talent can we possibly get now? We're a dumpster fire.

I have over 40,000 posts on Shaggy, had over 12,000 on Hornfans, and over 600 here..

My thoughts:

1. You need an insane fan base

2. You need those with insane HS/CFB knowledge

3: Winning tradition(especially since 1958...1975, 1991, 2004 being the exception)

I don't sense that that is the case here...too many years of Admin fucking us over has taken it's toll me thinks..

It would be very hard for me to be me here on BI...as evidenced by my posting history here and on Shaggy..

My observation is that the free flow here is at a minimum..response to posts and threads and whatnot...that destroys traffic....I don't sense that feeling of dynamism that I've had on other sites..

Format? Don't know how much that plays into it since that's not my field..
