Actually yes, he set a record for secondary violations as a 1st year head coach at Tennesee. I've studied this guy for years reading up on him. It would take me volumes but suffice it to say, he skirts the edge of ethics almost every where he goes, gives orders that are questionable, continually lies or bends the truth on a variety of subjects and is just about the most immature guy I've even seen give a presser. Much of what I've written can also be found on USC and Tennessee websites....and that is after you wade through the hate and vitriol. Most of the SEC coaches were pi$$ed off at him after his antics. He and Ed Orgeron orchestrated and effort for early enrollees at Tenn. not go to class the first day after he quit so he could poach them to USC...the list goes on and on and many Trojans will tell you the same.
I see. I looked up what the violations were - simulating game conditions during a recruiting visit. He used a fog machine and held a mock press conference. Another was talking about a recruits ability on the radio. I believe the last one was by one of his assistants - again, a minor infraction.
These all seem quite minor given what other coaches are doing and have done. The only difference is that this guy walks and talks like an apparent douchebag. Beyond that, he must either be using his pedigree, be incredibly charming or really have a good football mind - otherwise he wouldn't have landed - arguably - the #1 OC position in college football.
