In addition to being a gifted offensive strategist who presided over consecutive top-10 offenses during his time as the Oakland Raiders' offensive coordinator and head coach, Jackson is a high-energy presence who has strong opinions and isn't shy about expressing them. Yes, I happen to love the guy, and I can tell you that he's incredibly charming. However, when it comes to coaching, he is tough, demanding and relentless in his pursuit of excellence, and this is especially true when it comes to the man playing the most important position on the field.

he did a really good job in his only HC position. Raiders were headed in the right direction, he knew how to use his players, but the Raiders being the Raiders...

The guy who gave up a 1st and 2nd round draft pick for Carson Palmer? I agree he has some chops with offensive play calling but he was also a power hungry coach who brought dissension many times. He didn't take responsibility for the teams penalties and undisciplined play (I think 2011 they were the most penalized team in NFL history) or his bad trade and personnel decisions. Though he knows his x's and o's, it seems trouble follows him at times....

Cal missed a huge opportunity by not bringing this guy in as a HC. It wont be long before he accepts another HC gig in the NFL, he's that good. Not saying he'll thrive as a HC in the NFL, but I have no doubt he would have done well at Cal. Not to mention he would have been a great recruiter, and brought a primo coaching staff to this program.
If we would have gotten him, I think we would have had him for 3 years before he moved back to the NFL as a HC. 3 years would have been enough to make this program relevant again, making it a much more desirable place to work for an upper echelon type coach. Just my .02 cents.
