I have been giving a "Gilligans Island" assignment to my economics students for years..where they have to pick an economic system to survive on a deserted island, etc..I realized just recently that students today don't actually know Gilligans Island! Imagine!? Anyway, I usually show part of an episode so they can get an idea..and no kidding, this year one of my students, just like the good ole professor, fashioned a radio out of a coconut!

If I was stuck on an island with either one of them I'd probably end up eating them...

Including Jeannie in the debate wouldn't be fair to the others.

Sadly, another icon of those 70's sitcoms passed as well - Dave Madden, the hen-pecked Reuben Kincaid, band manager for "The Partridge Family", passed yesterday:

Susan Dey, age 61, has aged gracefully, unlike many of her contemporaries who look like fish pouted monsters that bear no resemblance to their former selves. Susan Dey still looks like Susan Dey, albeit an older version.
