Seahawks fan or fans threw popcorn at him as he was being carted off the field after his injury. In my opinion Bowman is the best defensive football player in the NFL.

That was excruciating to watch and he held on to the ball! I just hope he has a career left. What a great player

I thought I heard it was an ACL. Given modern orthopedics, he has a good chance of coming back in 9 months or so.

That injury was the absolute worst thing to come out of that game. Terrible for such a good player to go out of a great game like that, and then get screwed out of getting credit for the fumble recovery too.

As for fans throwing stuff at him -- well, it's awful, but sadly the kind of thing you see a lot more at sporting events these days. Not cool to taunt or throw stuff at a player who is injured.

Hopefully his PCL wasn't torn also. That was my first worry when I saw his knee get hyperextended like that. If it's just ACL or ACL and MCL, bowman should be able to come back pretty strong next year.

Seattle is so fuckin sad that they wouldn't allow Californians to buy tickets to the game. **** Seattle

Watching the pileup on top of Bowman it was obvious that something more than a fumble recovery was going on. The 49ers were acting like somebody was screaming in pain and the Seahawks reacted by piling back into the pile as the pile was uncovered. The refs didn't appear to be too concerned about an injured player; the NFL won't be adding that play to any highlight films.

I think first report is that it's ACL/MCL, so hopefully he can come back.

That play was a triple-whammy of horrible: (1) Bowman's leg is mangled; (2) ref's blow the possession call after Bowman's heroics to hold onto the ball as he hits the ground in spite of the injury; and (3) had to listen to Joe Buck make the call

I have a fully torn PCL in my right knee that has never been repaired (due to a hyperextension in college) and I don't have any issues. Apparently they occasionally fix it in athletes, but a PCL injury doesn't result in nearly the instability that a complete ACL tear does.

Having to listen to Joe Buck make ANY call is horrible. His dad was a great announcer, but not him.

(4) they replayed it like 50 times.

For Seahawks fans, being a member of the opposing team is reason enough, especially if it is a 49er. Unfortunately this is true of many fans these days, even some Bear fans.

I'm pretty sure Sherman will find a few things flying his way when he visits Levi field next year. Maybe we should all throw pairs of jeans and then say we're sorry later and that it was just our passion coming through. It would be a great way to christen Levi field...not (but tempting).

Edit: The saddest thing about the Bowman play/non call/injury is that when you consider the sacrafice he made to hold onto the ball and the context it would have been one of the greatest plays in the history of the game...all wiped away because of technicalities that should not have been their to start with.

Is there any evidence that the popcorn was thrown? Maybe someone was leaning over the edge to see and spilled the popcorn? Could have even been a 49ers fan?

rooting for SeaHawks, here, but that play should have gone differently. Yes, the injury is the worst part, and the fumble on the next play gave the 9ers better field position, but, in a perfect world, the SeaHawks would be required to defend an extra 4th and goal from the 1, since the 9ers had to.

Better to throw handfuls of those little brass rivets they stick on the pockets of my 501s. Jeans are expensive these days.

Seahawks fans threw food at Bowman on his way out.

...yes, all the uproar is pretty silly and sounds like sour grapes. Even if it is what people think it is, big deal...some drunk fan being an idiot. I am not a 49ers or Seahawks fan, although I enjoy watching lynch and mebane succeed.

When you have a career threatening injury at your desk jockey job (maybe severe reoccurring carpal tunnel or something), I hope people throw food at you too.

Recurring carpal tunnel is not painful enough.

Insinuating that something is a non-issue because it was potentially perpetrated by someone who was intoxicated is pretty stupid.

Implying that you have to be a fan of a specific team to see something wrong with throwing food at injured participants is equally stupid.
