Personally coached him for a few days after the season...Didn't Tedford reject Carr for a Cal schollie?

Checkers? Shelf?

Nfl personnel guys aren't usually that thrilled with ole tedford's imprimatur.

Interesting question. I don't recall whether Tedford did or did not offer Carr. Was that the same year he offered Bridgeford? Maybe AB accepted first? One QB per year.

Thrilled enough to get a paid job doing just that.

It was kinda like most of QB commits. Earlier solid at QB and we only take one a year. Textbook Tedford. I don't think we ever even offered. Not many high-level programs did though.

Lovie Smith's judgment of offensive coaches is EXTREMELY questionable. It's what got him fired in the first place.

Although at the time, this entire board was against offering him a scholly saying one Fresno St. legacy was enough (referring to Sweeney). Nobody thought Carr would do as well as he did.

I think maybe we offered Hinder instead although it may have been Bridgford. To be fair to Bridgford he suffered a horrendous freak injury his freshman year, and I don't think ever recovered his arm strength.

Carr was upset because he wanted to come to Cal.

Of course, now what Carr really wants is to be drafted.

Tedford may have suspected or been planning with Lovie to go to NFL during the off-season, and thus wanted a free look at Carr. I doubt they draft him in the first, but maybe in the 3rd.

No way Carr makes it through the 2nd, he might not even make it past the 2nd QB taken... Dude has a rocket arm and really good accuracy.

Ahh. The good-ole days of winning records and being peeved that we are recruiting another Sweeney.

Very unlikely he gets chosen before bridgwater or manziel. I watched bridgwater in his bowl game and he seemed the real deal and one of the only qbs playing a true pro style system where he actually threw guys open instead of just throwing the open guy.

JT really wanted Jake Heaps that year (2010), but ended up taking Hinder over Carr, Mannion, and Tuel.

I said Carr might be the 2nd QB taken. Bridgewater is unquestionably the #1 prospect, but Manziel/Carr/Bortles is a scheme/preference thing. Of course there's always that small chance some team goes full retard, shoots up the board and picks Manziel #1 overall.

The number 1 QB is very much still up in the air.

I've forgotten - where did Heaps end up and did he have a successful college career.

He went to BYU, became the starter, then lost the starting job, then transferred to Kansas. He's had an unremarkable college career.
