Cals juco recruit Trevor Kelly just tweeted that Hamilton Anoa'i has committed to Cal. Rated 79 and 3 stars by ESPN. All sites say he's committed to Northwestern. Anyone have any info on this?

Pre-Signing Day surprise! Less than 3 hours 'til NSD, 3-star Junipero Serra LB Hamilton Anoa'i has flipped from #Northwestern to #Cal.

Everyone here wants the same thing, success..This is Sonny's first real year of recruiting, so I cut him some slack, but we need to get everyone we want in Northern California. Really glad to see kids stay home and play for Mom and Dad.

Yeah would be interested in seeing him at either SS or LB, probably depends on whether his 220lbs is a stable playing weight, whether he wants to put on some addl weight in college, or lose some and get even more cut.

In any case, always like seeing guys like him who play all over the field and captain the team because theyre the best athlete on the field.l

I have multiple really close friends who go to Serra with Hamilton and they always have nothing but good things to say about him. Often referring to him as one of the nicest and most humble kids you'll meet. I'm glad hes getting his chance at Cal, because he is exactly the type of player, and more importantly, the type of person, that this program needs.

While this class developed slowly, it sure seems to be picking up momentum. I really like his profile (size and speed) and his film. Wouldn't we all be surprised if Sonny pulled off the 3rd best class by getting kids who play above their HS ratings and stay until they graduate.:gobears:

Nam was tweeting that he is related to The Rock (Dwayne Johnson). Man, that would be some swag if he were on the sidelines.

As a Serra alumn, I watch a lot of their games and know a coach and families of current players. Flat out stud with a great gpa, and as stated above, great kid all around. If he doesn't tear his knee last year, he'd have offers from most of the PAC. Played mostly lb and safety on D with increasing time at TE as he continued to get healthy.

against Bellarmine College Prep & Del Oro. He had a great game against the Bells and kind of a nightmare game vs Del Oro. Hamilton is a legit physical specimen [6-2 225 4.49] who played slot WR on offense (10 TDs) and strong safety on defense.

Anoa'i was rated 3 stars by every recruiting service and was the WCAL Co-MVP. Both the SF Chronicle & SJ Mercury selected him first team DB. I predict that he'll earn a starting position for the Bears. Exactly what the doctor ordered... Go CCS! GO BEARS!
