That's true HB04, head coaches have been severely underpaid, given their impact on the bottom line. A top-notch coach can add over $100M to the value of the franchise, Carroll for instance added something like $200-$300M to the value of the Seahawks. His market value should be at least $10m/yr. Harbaugh, while not as good as Carroll, is still one of the top coaches in the league, so his alleged eight-figure salary demand is not all that outrageous.
Only very recently did coaches salaries explode in European soccer, the top coaches are now getting $10 to $20M/yr. It wouldn't be surprising to see a similar coaches arm race in the NFL.
