. Cal Men Basketball team beat USC this afternoon (double digit victory).
. Cal Women Basketball team beat USC in LA today at noon (almost double digit).
. Cal Women Basketball team beat UCLA in LA Friday night.

That is beating USC twice in 7 hours and beating LA three times in less than 48 hours!

And both Cal Men and Women Basketball teams had a chance of winning the conference up to a few days ago. Cal was the only school whose both Men and Women Basketball teams were not eliminated from regular season championship after 14 conference game (yes, it was only possible if every game went according to our wishes, but still, we were in it 14 games into the conference season for both men and Women teams). If we could do nearly that good in football, I would be dancing in the Memorial every Saturday afternoon in the Fall.

I am posting this in the Football Forum to share with all of fellow long suffering Cal Football fans that Cal CAN win, even against LA reams, with the right coaches.

GO BEARS!

P.S. Does Coach Montgomery have any clones who coach football?

OK. Please post the results. But let's keep in mind that for men it is Football and Basketball and for Women it is Basketball that gets the national media coverage.

Based on previous responses on this board, it appears that a number of board members beat USC twice in 7 hours and LA three times in less than 48 hours on a regular basis. :rollinglaugh:

Are you an English 1A or Stat 21 TA? The statement is not difficult to interpret. For the A answer, look at the content of the comments of this board compared to the USC/UCLA boards. For the B answer, look at previous threads (e.g., . . .

You are making me feel like that I am back in my Nuclear Reactor Theory (NE 151?) class of 35 years ago trying to figure out the chain reaction of Uranium nuclear fuel rods. Well, I did not enjoy that class a whole heck of a lot either.....

Anyway,

GO BEARS.

Yeah, but wasn't there still a reactor in the basement 35 years ago? You could just stick your hand in the pool and see what sloughed off.

And yet most people would rather have had men's basketball beat UCLA, lose to USC and women's b-ball go 0-2.

Not pounding LA, but men's swimming swept our arch rival in every swimming event too on Saturday. Not a bad weekend besides the UCLA men's game.

Women's Tennis lost to UCLA over that time period, so I guess we were 4-1 with the Rugby victory, and if you expand the 48 hours a few hours, Women's Tennis also lost to USC, so 4-2

Yes, there was a nuclear reactor on the P4 level of Etchevery(sp?) Hall, right under the Volleyball court where a lot of people played Volleyball every day at noon.

Yes, I worked in that nuclear reactor as the Assistant Nuclear Health Physicist (sounds important but I was only an undergraduate student worker) making around $8 an hour. My job was to measure the amount of radiation released throughout the campus. I had air filters installed throughout the campus which measured the amount/type of radiation released using Geiger meter. Most of the time, the amount of the radiation released was below the background level.

Laugh all you want, but $8 (or maybe $16 for two hours of work) paid for two gallons of gas plus something to eat at Fisherman's Wharf to take a date out to the City. Life was good back then.

In my work-study job in the middle 60s, I helped install the alarm systems for the reactor.

Loved going up on the bridge and viewing the beautiful blue Cherenkov Radiation. What a bonus.

And yes, those work study jobs sure made a financial difference.
