Possibly his attitude as well. I've heard that as a reason why niners passed on him in draft.

No, that's why they passed on Aaron Rodgers. Lol.

I thought niners just passed him because he went to Cal and they hate Cal products???

Lolz. Thread hijacked?

I thought it was a combo of size/durability and perceived attitude problems.

Rumors leaked that him and Aaron Rodgers were dating each other while also helping smuggle guns to LA-based crips in conjunction with Sen. Leland Yee. He was also implicated in a devious plot to cause an imbalance in the pH of the water at Memorial Stadium while also initiating a conspiracy to get all NFL players to shout out their high school or community college name (rather than their major university affiliation) in nationally televised game introductions.

He also doesn't like burritos...

Actually, to clarify, DeSean dissed La Burrita, and all Cal players are contractually obligated to call La Burrita the greatest burrito place ever.

this is like a calvin-booth-tattoo question

at the time it was widely rumored that tedford had told people in the league that DJ had attitude problems. widely disputed, and widely rumored.

Well if Desean gets signed by Tampa we can assume that those rumors weren't true.

Former Cal receiver MeSean Jackson will be one of the stars of the scouting combine and he'll let everyone know about it.

OVER-THE-TOP, EPHEDRINE-LACED DIATRIBE BEFORE DAWN
DeSean Jackson, that was so cute the way you announced your alma mater as Long Beach Poly during the Sunday Night Football telecast of the Eagles-Giants game, ignoring your three-year stint at the University of California. Not only did you manage to diss the nation's No. 1 public university in a very public way, but you also quite shockingly drew attention to your favorite person: DeSean Jackson. Yes, I know, that whole selfishness thing at Cal was totally overblown. Even though the coaching staff once punished you for a violation of team rules by forcing you to learn the names of each of your teammates, I'm sure they were just tripping. But I have a feeling that after Sunday's conspicuous disavowal of your Golden Bear ties, many of my fellow alums including the ones who blasted me on message boards when I referred to you as "MeSean" before the draft are probably rethinking their devotion. Congratulations on another good game in a successful rookie season. And, from the bottom of my blue-and-gold heart, thank you for leaving early.

Can you imagine what Silver's tweets would be like if Desean signed with Oakland?

Desean also claimed to be "injured" and skipped playing the Big Game and the bowl game so that he would not risk being injured and hurt his draft chances as a junior.

Sheesh. And here I was finally getting over the fact that he and AR sabotaged the bolts on the Bay Bridge.

He played in the bowl game... Laid out for a TD grab to help complete the comeback vs. Air Force.

I like Silver's work as a writer, but he can be douchey at times. This was one of those times. Calls out DeSean for saying Long Beach Poly but defends Tosh?

I don't recall if this was just my own conjecture at the time or if it made the rounds with talking heads, but I suspect Ted Ginn Jr.'s uninspiring rookie year after being taken 9th overall the previous year played a role.

That plus his stats were not that great due to various reasons.

His combine results netted 70 inches and 169 lbs. That is why he slipped to the second round.

Riley to Desean is the reason we beat Air Force. And really, it was Desean. Riley just had to throw the ball up and Desean would go get it. It is a big part of what made Longshore look good before he was injured and could get the ball deep enough.

Character issues aside, DJ got caught up in a numbers game. NO WR went in the first round. Then 7 went in 17 picks. Desean being the 7th. Perhaps he could have been picked earlier in the rush of WR picks, but because of the way the draft went, being a first round pick was not gonna happen.

The real steal of the draft came at pick 205 - end of round 6 - Pierre Garcon.

I think this ends all doubt that NFL teams are biased against University of Mount Union.
