All because of the difficulty of parking in Berkeley on a weeknight, no doubt.

My vote is for Texas vs either of the Arizona schools, to play @ Estadio Azteca.... for pure irony.

This is is nuts! This new-found fascination with playing football and baseball games in foreign venues is getting out of control. NFL games in London, MLB games in Australia, and now college football games in Mexico City. Wonderful. Let Texas play Arizona or ASU or Oklahoma in Mexico City for all I care, but I'm afraid this is just the beginning. Why did we spend all that money rennovating Memorial Stadium? We should have just scheduled all our future home games in Mexico City, San Juan, Papeete, Melbourne, Caracus, Buenos Aires, etc.

Everything re: football is getting out of control.

The last NFL draft was held 52 weeks ago tonight

I should be prepping to watch the draft right now.

Instead, NFL greed has pushed this year's draft to 2 weeks from now in the middle of May sweeps. This process has gotten too drawn-out.

This is a smart move by the Pac 12 and Texas, if you want to sell your network down in Mexico on Cable TV. If you can put Pac 12 network in Mexico even for a few million, why not? Expand the brand.

So what would happen if Cal and UCLA played a regular-season football game in the Bird's Nest in Beijing? Good or bad?

It makes sense as a Bowl Game, but not as a regular season game. I would love to see a #2 vs. #2 in Mexico City. So long as it doesn't screw with the Rose Bowl, I would be all for it.

The Bimbo Bowl? I'm all for it!

The problem is that someone would likely have to give up a home game unless a an arranged match-to-be-determined looms in the future.

Me, me, Pick Me ... our fans don't mind giving up home games ... Mexico City is just a little farther south than Santa Clara ... Pick ME (sez our AD)

looking very likely that USC and Texas will play this game, I think in either 2017 or 2018

Wow, that would kind of suck. The beauty of these home-and-homes is that USC gets to play in some place foreign like Austin and vice versa.

Instead, we get this one-off game in a foreign land.

(Then again, I'm always disappointed in those one-off games between schools from different conferences in places like Jerry World.)

Perfect! As far as I'm concerned, both SC and Texas can play all of their games in Mexico (and Venezuela, Columbia, Argentina, Brazil, etc.), except when they play Cal.

Interesting. I really don't see why either school would give up a home game and home field advantage. Especially Texas. They might like money, but don't need money. What Texas does have is fans paying top dollar for home games, and a really crappy conference home schedule in the B12. They really are finding it unappealing w/o good OOC games. A&M is gone. Nebraska is gone. Mizzou is gone. Colorado was once a decent game too. They play OU at a neutral site. So giving up a USC home game will **** a lot of people off.

USC gets Stanford and UCLA at home in 2017. I guess it's conceivable that they have enough good home schedule to give up a home game. But it's a great rematch of the 2005 NCG and since USC has national title aspirations every year, and is flush with cash as well, why give up a home game vs a predicted highly ranked opponent?

Is the talk of only a neutral site game to replace the home and home? That would be sad for CFB as a whole because it just means the two want to replace an interesting matchup with an OOC cupcake.

Neutral site games are great for getting a matchup in place that would not have happened, not moving a game from a home and home which completely unbalances the home field aspect of the series.

I hate this. The NFL just needs a damn minor league system so college football can go back to pretending its about student athletes with a straight face.

Mexicali? Necaxa stadium is too small. El Nido baseball field would be weird bacause of the configuration.

I could see it happening in Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente's stadium.

A little small, though, only fits 21k.

No, I think it'll be part of a home and home between USC and Texas, with one of the schools, probably the 'Horns, agreeing to play their "home game" in Azteca Stadium.

The conference commissioners wouldn't be handling this if it were an OOC home and home. Why would they? Commissioners have no say in OOC match ups or locations. It would be between the two school's Athletic Directors.
