Most of you know how much I believe in the Cal Rugby program. In previous posts I've shared many reasons why. Here is yet another reason: This communication was sent to Coach Clark from Sean O'Leary, the head coach of the Notre Dame rugby team. We all can be very proud of the men who represent the Blue and Gold in rugby, and the way they are coached and led. It is so much more than just wins and losses. Here's what Coach O'Leary wrote (By the way, the "Tom" referred to in the note is certainly not me.....it is referring to Tom Billups, asst. coach):
"Jack, it was good spending time with you this weekend. Your Bears were brave yesterday and you and Tom know it.
I have something else to add to the quality of your squad that I would like to share.
I had a bite to eat this afternoon at the same restaurant your men went to after the game last night. The staff couldn't speak highly enough of the players. They were so impressed with their manners, the respect they had for the staff but more importantly each other. You and they should be very proud. I know I was!"
