We have a few in the NFL also :p
Time for Yenser to get some commits. Helluva lot of offers out for OL.
Maybe coaches want to wait to see how those guys do their senior year.
One (1) good OL commit would certainly be nice though.

rough estimation: ~35 offers out for OL, about 10 committed elsewhere already, about 6-10 with little interest in Cal. that leaves ~8 in the sweet spot. some linemen's stocks have been going up, others down... and i'm sure for some, the amount of attention get from Cal coaches will change in their final seasons...

i don't think OL/DL recruiting will pick up any time soon.

you want one simple answer? b/c the weakest unit in 2013 was the OL, and kids as smart as ones Cal recruits know how to say "Show me." they want to know the coaches can deliver on what they are selling.

ohhh ok .. last years results lead you to believe in the future things will look the same .. you do not think it can get any better ... or do you expect the same

what i believe Cal will do this season is irrelevant. i'm not the one trying to make a "50-year decision", as the Cal staff--past and present--is fond of saying, and signing my body away next February.

the reality is kids, especially the ones with many offers, are skeptical of what this unproven staff is pitching, and rightfully so. they want to see the results back up the recruiting pitches. why is that hard to believe?

hmm k

first thing what you believe is very relevant ... from my standpoint of trying to understand how you arrive at your analysis

maybe these unproven coaches are good at making certain young men not feel like they are signing their bodies away ...

are you inside all the minds of the prospects CAL has offered ? NO

thus you have no idea what they are thinking .. nor should you try to assume

unproven 1 year = very very bad start

what are the pitches that Cal is employing ?

have you meet any of the coaches personally ?

why is that hard to believe?
the 23 young men that committed last feb had other offers and choose CAL and the unproven coaches/ no DC over other schools

I actually think DL recruiting will improve this year. Tate is a proven guy. And most likely regardless of record they will improve the defense substantially (granted that could mean 45 to 35 points a game but that's still a big swing). Maybe I'm smoking peace pipe but that's my opinion.

OL recruiting after 1.5 cycles is still in a "show me" stage I agree w ed. Yenser has all the enthusiasm in the world it appears but so far while he can get his foot in the door has t shown that he can close on his top targets. We have picked up a few interesting projects so far but clearly when it comes to our top tier targets on OL last year anyways we didn't get them. How many OT did we whiff on that we were trying to close on in the end of the last cycle? Lost count. Getting Granado may or may not pan out well but he wasn't plan A

by your reasoning, the OLs Cal signed this past spring must be dumb cuz they definitely didn't say "Show me."

by in large we:
- missed on most of out highly sought after guys in 2013 and 2014
- we likely won't see any OL commits until the season begins, and till recruits see some positive results

I said kids with options are wise to make Cal show them we can win; never implied the opposite is true, that they are dumb if they want to trust our coaches. don't twist my words, donkey.

I don't know why saying these kids are making rational decisions is such a ridiculous statement. I think its mostly OL, some DL, that will be hardest to recruit. but if a few trench guys with multiple P12 offer commits before the season, then I guess they have a lot more faith in the coaches than I realized.

yes, we managed to get commits who chose to come to a school with unproven coaches, and then we went 1-11. recruiting suffered b/c of that. and recruiting will continue to be hurt by that season.

i'm not assuming. these kids are pretty much saying this in the interviews LOL. hell, some of our current players' parents have echoed the same frustrations.

besides, there's nothing wrong with drawing your own conclusions. you tell people not to assume anything that is remotely critical of the program or staff, yet you make a bunch of positive assumptions and inferences.

i agree. part of the reason why i thought it'd be difficult to pick up any sought-after DL guys (in addition to OL guys) is b/c the DL class out west isn't usually as deep as it is with OL. you'll have a few really sought-after guys, and then there's a big drop-off. and for some reason, to some extent DL guys don't have the same academic profile as OL guys do....

This whole offering of QBs one-by-one has been a disaster. Should've expanded their search after Rosen. Losing Browning and White is looking worse and worse.

turned out ok this past recruiting cycle .. it is a long time next feb a lot things can change up till the 5th..

maybe the staff does not have the same level of desire for a QB this cycle as you do ... you ok with that ?.. are you a D1 ball coach that has knowledge of today's recruiting landscape

worse and worse huh .. wont matter too much if team does not win?

1-11 and you expect the world in our hands ... wake up worry about getting wins

white wanted the top notch academics of Az st .. how is that losing ? mr worse worse

yes. Rubenzer picked Cal early on, and stuck with Cal the whole time.

if the staff does not have the "level of desire for a QB" that I supposedly do (?) then they would've stopped offering additional QBs, DTQBs, or otherwise. Rosen, then Browning, then White, then Waller, then oh ****, Hilinksi.

"expect the world in our hands". damn, hoping the staff would evaluate multiple QBs at once and not assume they are sure to land one = "expecting the world"?

sorry you don't take criticism of this staff well. on the plus side, have you heard? our APR has gone up! if you're only interested in posts that blow smoke up the program's ass, there are more than enough posters for that. i'm just pointing out some areas for improvement, or things that does not seem to compute.

didn't realize I had to be part of the staff to hear things about our program.

so tell me, specifically, what part of what I'm saying is incorrect? or is it anything you don't want to hear? what have I said that's irrational?

We have laid a major turd QB wise this cycle. Can't argue that. The TFS is a QB friendly system that should have top notch QB's banging down the doors to come here. Why aren't they? 1-11 is one reason. Also, I surmise that Goff being a true soph is a factor. Mostly, I think the top recruits want to see if this staff can coach cuz if they can't turn this ship around, chances are that they won't be around by the time the class of '15 hits campus.
