I like how their "prediction" is actually phrased as a question. I think we all have a few of those.

Well for all those who didn't take the time to read the blurb.... it's not a ranking of teams in CFB, just a ranking of things in CFB that SI is excited about. Other things on the list: arguing over rankings and NFL draft speculation.

Thanks for trying to explain this to everyone ... but I'm not sure they "got it". This is NOT saying we are 83rd in the country. It's that watching Cal this is year to see in Sonny can turn it around - is the 83rd most exciting thing to see in college football this year.

Still - I'm amazed we hit the list ... but the national folks are interested to ses if Sonny/Tony can have an offense this year .... we all know it's primarily about the D, though...

When you're 12th out of 12 conference teams in scoring and passing efficiency, I don't think it's just all about the defense. Special teams were not great either.

We need to make huge strides in all phases of the game. And I think we may with new coaching (at least on defense) and a more experienced team (Dykes' protestations notwithstanding).

But improving from epochally horrendous to merely really bad is not going to help us make a bowl game. We need to get all the way into mediocre/decent territory. It's possible Sonny gets us there but he's got a long long way to go, and not just on D.

Sonny should take heart. Without playing a single game, the Golden Bears jump 38 spots from 121st to 83rd in just a few weeks.

This has to be the steepest climb in all of CFB.
