Yeah seriously - congrats to Adcock, not necessarily just for making this list, but for being a true student athlete through it all.

Congrats to Adcock. As far as the two Furd schlumps, the NFL should take away about 1 point on their GPA to get a reasonable picture regarding what their real number should be.

Nice to see Chris on the list - he works hard off and on the field. Interesting that they chose the QB at Navy - I doubt he is in the top 20 on his own team - of course every kid on the service academy teams would make this list.

I'm amazed that no UNC players are on the list. After all, don't they get automatic A's without having to attend class or write papers?

Not so sure about this. Currently have a family member (athletic) who is more or less guaranteed a spot at one of the service academies because of combined GPA and athletics. I know this person cannot get into Cal/UCLA/'furd right now, and would really rather go to Davis, but not sure there either. Athletes at the academies, if I am correct on this, bypass so many of the entrance requirements of regular students (congressional sponsor, super high ACT or SAT scores, etc.). Makes me think not everyone at the academies are top notch students. Don't get me wrong, this family member is slightly over 4.0 GPA with 29 ACT (first try) but that doesn't get you into the top schools, but does to the academies.

The comparison here is DI football players. If this young man isn't going to Cal/furd/UCLA, etc.. it is because he is not recruited for football. His academic qualifications are certainly on par with the best of all those programs players. Athletes at all the academies have to meet the same academic standards as every other cadet/midshipman. The general rule of thumb if you are comparing academy athletes with civilian schools is to add a whole point to the academy GPA - it is that much harder.
