How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm getting ready to protest in writing a parking ticket I received the other day in San Francisco. I parked in a 2 hour parking zone from 4:05pm to 8:30pm. The time limit posted on the sign directly above my car said the 2 hour zone was from 8am to 6pm. The ticket lists time checked as 4:43 and time issued as 7:03. Either I don't understand what it means to have the 2 hour limit end at 6pm (or SF has changed how this limit works) or the parking 'officer' made a mistake.
Anyone have any recent experience with this type of ticket?
Thanks.

I've never had a problem with that. Seems very strange. Based on the info provided, I think you'd have a good chance with the protest. I'd move quickly and sent it via certified mail.

was it near at&t park?

i know that metered parking in that area is enforced after 6 pm when giants games/special events occur. i would assume any non-metered parking zones would also be so enforced (assuming a sign is posted somewhere).

if it wasn't in that area, it does seem strange and you should be able to successfully appeal it.

Not a meter and not near AT&T park. It was on Van Ness down by Filbert. My wife and I park there many times per week when we walk the city. We always wait until after 4pm to park and this is the first ticket. And thanks GMP for the reminder about a certified letter. I was just going to use regular mail as listed on the back of the ticket. On the surface I think the parking person just blew it but I wanted to get other's feedback on my reading of the 6pm cutoff time.
