I fully believe that there are some people that just don't believe she did a very good job. I disagree with them - I think she mostly did a good job. However, YOU need to get off your pseudo-anti-PC soap box and accept that there are others who do not like her in large part because of her gender and the perception about her sexual orientation - and we KNOW this is true because they make it quite clear in the way they talk about her.

It seems like you see what you want to see. In the last 10 years I have talked to many Cal alums and boosters about Sandy Barbour, and not once did anyone mention her gender or even hint about her sexual orientation. I urge you to see her dismissal for what it really is--termination for poor performance. And if you believe otherwise, I'll leave it to you to confront Dirks and accuse him of sexism and homophobia for removing her as AD.

Talk about seeing what you want to see. I said zero about her dismissal being motivated by sexism or homophobic. I said nothing that could be remotely construed as accusing Dirks of sexism or homophobia. Please re-read what I wrote.

As for other fans and comments about her gender or sexual orientation - either you haven't followed the issue closely on this board over the years, or you have buried your head in the sand. I'm not saying that you've not heard them in your personal discussions - I'm saying that they have occurred on this board. I have read them over and over, including in the last week.

Whatever. You're clearly entitled to believe what you want to and interpret as you wish. Have a good evening.

I accept your concession. Have a good evening, as well.

It's unclear to me whether Skiing is really two sports or one. There is no separate skiing title for men and women, so it's really a combined team sport (unlike track or cross country). Maybe it's either, and that's decided based on what's convenient for CU?

It's two different sports because the rosters are listed as "Men" and "Women" as opposed to "Coed". The NCAA does recognize Coed sports, sailing being one of them. Stanf*rd has a coed sailing team, I believe.

If you had wanted to refute the charge, I would think you would have used different words to express your thoughts.

Leaving it open to interpretation as the statement does, only serves to invite the reader to assume the accusation is true.

Just sayin'.

I was just trying to be gracious to one with a narrower mind.

Yes they have: "pantsuit Sandy" as we read it here, meant resentment that a female leader was "wearing the pants," so to speak. These comments were not worthy of Cal students past and present. The vehemence of the denial speaks volumes. We can do better. Thanks GMP.

Had drinks with the Goldman twins about two weeks ago (I'm not telling anything out of school here as it is no secret). They're trying to get Cal to work on young Silicon Valley Alumni. Naturally, they're getting resistance. But it's kids like them who will be our saviors as the years go by. If you can do anything to support their efforts, please do.

Hurahh. I'm tired of Stanford and USC "out networking" Cal.

I might take you seriously if only you would complain so staunchly when people gave Jeff Tedford the playful moniker of Poncho Boy.

Barbour's sexual orientation has nothing to do with this, so please don't rely upon it.

Again?

I've called both Sandy Barbour and Hillary Clinton "pantsuit" before. It's a bad fashion look IMO and if I want to laugh at a woman for wearing it I will, just like people laughed at Harbaugh and Obama for wearing pleated khakis or "Dad Jeans."

Also please note, I have never called Angela Merkel "pantsuit" but if you want to call me Nazi this one time so be it.
