Thought UTSA was going to pull out a W, sadly no. Thoughts on the game? Game plan for the bears going against the mildcats?

How do we compare to UTSA?

Probably a good thing that UA pulls it out. They could've easily lost this game. I hope that the blueprint for our victory is here.

Defensively, USTA adjusted well in the 2nd half. I hope Dykes and company were watching.

We'll know more after saturday, and we'll have two weeks to prepare

If we play goff In the air with the occasional Luke Skywalker duel threat, we will deff run the board. We need the running game tho. We need our speed on the ground to be effective and have goff open the field. Im feeling good about it as of right now. Hopefully Saturday will solidify this feeling.

I'm comfortable concluding that UNLV is hot garbage. UTSA has been building a program for a few years now. You can call them the Fresno State of Texas.

They are not bad but Arizona should be miles ahead. I do think that Arizona has work to do this year, but they seem to get better under Rich Rod. We may catch them early. Good for them he did the right thing for his team and got some pre-season crap teams to play, so they can still flubber around and pull out a win. I think the Bears have a decent shot, but we have a hard time in the desert.

This was a trap game for Arizona. First time I've seen a Pac-12 school play on a Thursday when playing the prior Saturday. Plus, they were on the road.

Teams coming off 1 win seasons don't have trap games.

Uof A opened last Friday...

Surprised this was an away game. Usually such schools come to us, no?

The game was at the Alamodome. I am pretty sure both teams made some $$$$

My first impression is UofA is no better than last year, and might be somewhat worse. I see the Wildcats getting clownstomped in conference play. Hopefully we can be one of the teams doing the stomping this year, we certainly have the potential.

My first impression after watching only the first quarter was that they looked pretty dominant. Then I saw the score and was surprised that it was such a close game as it looked like a blowout in the making. Did UTSA figure out how to stop the zone read, or did UA shat the bed after the first q?

I was flipping back and forth and missed the beginning, but the UTSA d put up a pretty good fight and AZ couldn't consistently sustain drives. There were several sequences during the game where it seemed UTSA might seize momentum. While they couldn't,I suspect the top P12 teams won't have that problem. Lone bright spot for AZ was their rb 28, who looked like Kadeem Carey lite. Still UTSA gave up an 80+ yd td pass, missed a chip shot field goal, and literally tossed the ball to AZ with about a minute and a half remaining to gift wrap the W.

The TV announcers commented on freshman Arizona QB Solomon as being nervous and inaccurate. I hope we can muster a strong rush and confusing coverage schemes to shake him up further.

It's going to come down to the ground game. If we utilize te speed of out RBs and open holes, will win. Even with them stacking the box, if we use the two headed beast that is Goffinzer, they won't know what to do. Out Defense just needs to develop a lot this week against sac state. After tomorrow I think we will have a more accurate measuring of where we r as a team.

The Alamodome is the "home stadium" for the UTSA Roadrunners.... All of their home games are played there...

Watched Arizona play both UNLV and UTSA. Arizona is a good team and will be the first real test for the Bears this season - will be a big step up from Northwestern. Anu Solomon and their running back Wilson look really good. Their defense was solid, not spectacular. My thought was UTSA looked like a solid, well coached team. They have a good team this year and it was a good test for Arizona.

Probably was done for recruiting reasons.

A team faces a "trap game" when it plays another team that is so obviously below them that the first team should clearly be able to win even under almost all circumstances. So much so that the first team overlooks the second team does not come prepared and encounters unexpected difficulties (usually a number of unexpected turnovers).

Cal is not yet good enough to win any games without an "A" effort. It is not yet good enough to have ANY "trap games".

I don't care about "clownstomping" anyone. I just want a "W".

Seems like Zona may stink on the road. Unfortunately, that's no help to us. I think Aaron Rodgers was the last player to lead Cal to victory in Tuscon.

We should have won that stinkin game in 2009 I believe @Arizona. Giorgio missed kicks. JT conservative approach. Early season Pac-12 loss.

I hate the freaking desert. Things die there.
