UW looks like they have a number of problems. But they do have a couple of fast players like John Ross. It will be interesting to see if we can shut their offense down.

key difference between JT and now, at the end of the half, JT takes a knee. Sonny sees a teaching moment, get down there and get a score. Even though the field goal was missed, it may come in handy in another more competitive game. Who cares about Sac State's feelings ?

It's the first half! Complaining about running up the score would be pathetic. So would running a trick play though. Just playing the game and practicing. I would hope they understand.

That's what Dykes has said in the past. He won't necessarily go for big plays, but he won't completely reign in his offense either. Most top level coaches do that now. Every rep for the offense is important so they refuse to waste them like Tedford did.
Good to practice the 2 min but most people who are not Cal fans will see it as a dick move. Anyway, will we score 80 points? I hope to see a lot of Rube 2nd half.

Just about all teams "run up the score" now. Reps for the offense and having a good score to impress ranking voters who don't watch games is just too important. Even most of the coaches understand it now. Some fans will be a bit upset, but that's not important.
Basically till the end of the game is live practice. Good teaching opportunity.

Our offense has gotten enough reps. I'm more worried about the defense. We should have a bunch of 2nd stringers in there building some depth.
There's no mercy in the first half. Also the first drive of the 2nd half should be all starters as well.
We had all third stringers in on D on the sac st TD drive

we were playing the 3rd string on the sac State TD drive. the 2nd string has been getting into the game since late in the first quarter.
How come no Enwere? I want to see that guy run off tackle 4 times in a row out of the no huddle.

Completely agree. If tedford had run up the score against southern miss we probably would have lost even more votes since voters would have thought tedford was a dick.
Crazy good first half on offense. Not sure we have a kicker though.

i am all for practice. we were 1-11 last year with very raw players. Take all the practice we can get! if using sac state now to work on 2 min drills will help us beat Stanfurd and SC later in this year, then by all means let's do it!
