For those of you who couldn't make it to Berkeley.....

1. Beautiful day. Weather was just spectacular. If there's a prettier place in the world to see a football game I can't imagine where it might be.

2. The fraternities were in fine form before the game. Houses were packed. Music was loud and kids were having a great time. Even saw a bunch of students going down a giant inflatable water slide in various states of undress. We ran by all this as fast as possible covering the eyes of my impressionable teenage son the entire way.

3. The half time show where they had the two Pee Wee squads from Redwood something-or-other play each other was very cute. Only issue was that one of the coaches wore a bright red shirt. And he was very large so believe me that was a lot of red on our field. And speaking of fat.......

4. I try to avoid criticizing the student athletes, but I'm going to make an exception here. Yea gods, someone needs to tell the the Sac state linemen to lay off the cheese cake. I was really worried what would have happened if one of them fell over on our players or on the earthquake fault. Either seems like it could have been disastrous.

5. Great student turnout (at least from about the middle of the first quarter until the half). One of the largest non-Big Game groups I've seen in years. I know we gave the freshmen tickets for free but whatever we're doing we should keep it up. Well done. We need some practice with the card tricks though.

6. Team has a new Giant inflatable Bear head to run through at the beginning of the game. Also the fireworks were upgraded. Nice.

7. A musical tribute to Pink at halftime? Am I really that old? I barely even know who this is and now we're doing musical tributes to her with our marching band? Bring back the Beach Boys.

8. I was worried we were going to run out of loads for the cannon, especially since a few times the score was called back after they had fired it and then they'd have to shoot again when we got the score on the next play. By the end they weren't firing until they were really, really sure we were in. I thought we were all going to have to start yelling "Boom" like in that UOP game.

9. Scoreboard now says " Kabam" when we score, which is both amusing and a nice tie-in with the field naming rights. I'm just glad we didn't sell the field to Stay Puft Marshmellows.

10. The t-shirt cannon broke again. They had to resort to throwing the shirts. If we can put a man on the moon.......

11. Last and not least, everyone is much happier when we win. Crowd was absolutely jolly today.

Go Bears.

Did they announce how many in attendance? there was a discussion guessing how many would show up so I got curious. Looked good on TV - I'd guess at least 45,000.

When Pink became famous with the song below, Luke Rubenzer was 3 years old.

Yes, we're all getting old.

But it's nice to see the millennial generation pay tribute to the Gen X generation.

(Yes, artists like Pink, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are all Gen X-ers.)

They announced 48k. Was nice to see for sure. Students were there in force and the West side sections on either side of ESP were pretty full as usual. The non-student East side sections could have used a few more bodies. Sac State had one of the smallest visiting sections I've seen in awhile. Some folks were predicting 5k for them. Was probably closer to 500.

Agree on all counts. I was encouraged by the size of the student section and hope that trend continues.

Attendance looked good on TV. Enthusiasm of the crowd came through.

I liked the bands interpretation of the Game of Thrones intro song.

That's what that was! That was driving me crazy. Knew I'd heard it before. Thanks.

I was shocked to see how few fans from Sac State showed up.. Coming from Sac myself I expected to see lots of Sac State cars motoring towards Berkeley but saw none.. It's a nice road trip even if expecting to lose so maybe the apathy towards their program has really grown.. Pretty sad.

There were Sac State fans scattered around the stadium. They were wearing white, with some green, and cheered when they scored.

Yep - it was a great day. I brought my 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter, and my wife, of course. We walked by the fraternity water slide- looked like a lot of fun and there were some very scantily clad girls sliding down. My kids wanted to try it. I think it was at the Pike house. They probably would have let my kids go down. I spoke to several students while walking to the stadium and as always was impressed with the quality of kids that attend Cal.

We got very lucky and scored stadium club tickets for $80 per. It was really nice to get to experience the upscale Gameday experience and also to sit in the shade. It was weird being the bears part of the go bears cheer though. We were in ff but there were other people in our seats so we moved over to G which was almost empty. Apparently they have sold only a handful of seats in G. We were almost on the 50 yard line - we totally lucked out.

The only odd thing was they put all the sac state big wigs in G as well. It was weird to be in the most exclusive area of the stadium and to have almost as many opposing fans as Cal fans. They were all nice so no big issue, but I imagine in more heated games this would not be a good plan.

Yeah the G seats (Stadium Club A) are about a third more expensive than FF. The AD has a lot of Stadium A seats they use for the heavy hitters from other schools, but that's only because they haven't sold yet. Hopefully over time those will all wind up in the hands of Cal folks, but it's still a work in progress. I think this is also only true for the seats higher up in the Stadium section. The Stadium A seats closer to Field Club (about the middle of the stadium) were the first to go when people started picking seats and you don't see many opposing fans in those.

Oh yea man the fireworks. Good touch man. It was pretty badass to have when they came out of the tunnel like in an NFL game.

Also, the KABAM thing on the big screens were pretty hilarious when we scored which was about like 9 times considering we had a few TDs come off the board. Bears score!! Touchdown...KABAM!!!!

I didn't like the Kabam logo on the replay screen. It just seemed sort of tacked on as an afterthought, centered on top of the video.

It's not an awful idea. If they did some custom animation with an explosion that leads to the Kabam logo as a lead-in to a replay I'd be cool with it. It's just a bit half-assed as it is now.

They're paying for the logo ... hopefully they pay extra for the plug after we score. No Kabam for free, pay up.

I liked the Kabam after we scored. I thought they should put an ! or 2 after it and maybe some other words like in the old Batman TV show.
Go Bears!!!

When the Kabam deal was announced, I thought there would be just a sign on the side wall. That's it.

I didn't expect a massive logo on the field, massive logos on the jumbotron, and every announcer saying "Kabam."

I mean, how often do you hear announcers say the name of the field?

I never once hears the 49ers former home referred to as "Bill Walsh Field at Candlestick Park."

$1 million per year sounded great for just a sign on the wall, but man, they are getting too much publicity. And this is for 16 years?!?

Kabam may not exist in 16 years as it does today. I wonder whether the naming rights transfer directly if Kabam gets bought.

As long as they don't become "Kersplat" or "Kerplunk" I'm still down with the deal. Okaydo, you're forgetting the massive new LCD panel behind the Cal bench that has a running add for Kingdoms of Camelot going all game. Now that's some good product placement. I almost felt compelled to download it during halftime.

Fixed it for you. We don't have big screens; we have the miniature version.
