My son goes to O'Dowd, so this is right across the street. We stop there all the time for grub. Really just a pretty darn good diner.

Any other after-game restaurant recommendations? I've checked out the Bear Insider Food Forum but it is dated (except for the breakfast place thread). Thanks.

A16, Marica's, Comal. First two on college; second on Shattuck. Marica's is just a good neighborhood joint with good fish. a16 more trendy Italian but a creative and tasty menu. Comal is Mexican tapas-good small dishes and lots of mescal.

Thanks 54 and 13! I graduated over 30 years ago. As time goes by, I become more and more out of touch with good places to go.

I second both A 16 and Comal. You might try to get a reservation if possible, they both are usually busy and tough to just walk in on a weekend unless you can handle a very long wait. Comal is the one on Shattuck, close to the BART station.

But the good thing is-if he wants an early dinner-he can get there when they open given the 1pm game.

Thirded. Comal also has a great bar/patio in back. Adding places Downtown within walking distance I'll add (in no particular order):

1. Eureka on Center, just west of the BART station. Very modern, big bar, TVs, good burgers.

2. Sliver on Center --- Cheeseboard pizza with a bar, live music, TVs, lots of seating.

3. Jupiter on Shattuck --- brew pub, pizzas, great patio out back

4. Gather on Oxford --- high end, veggie forward, bar, outside patio

5. Ippukku on Center--izakaya, yakitori, beer and sake

6. Suya on Oxford--inexpensive but fresh African and Jamaican (get the jerk) skewers (know the owner who went to Cal).

7. East Bay Spice on Oxford --- great bar that serves OK Indian food (get Suya from next door).

8. Top Dog on Center -- low cost Cal favorite, cleaner version of Southside store, can't leave this off the list.

9. Bongo Burger on Center --- Persian burger see Top Dog.

10. Alborz on Center --- upscale Persian alternative to Bongo Burger.

11. Slider Bar on Center --- sliders, beer, TVs

12. Phil's Sliders on Shattuck (next to Comal) --- sliders, beer

13. Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen on Shattuck -- relatively upscale Cajun, Creole

14. Build Pizzeria on Shattuck --- relatively nice, made to order pizza, good bar with TVs

15. Arabica Mediterranean Cuisine on Kittredge -- upscale Arabic/Mediterranean restaurant from the owner of the very Berkeley Razan's Organic Kitchen next door.

16. Revival Bar and Kitchen on Shattuck -- upscale dinning, go for the bar

17. Belli Osteria on Shattuck (next to Comal) -- nice little upscale Italian spot

18. Cancun Taqueria on Addison -- organic, relatively inexpensive farm to table Mexican, with beer.

19. Great China at Bancroft and Oxford -- upscale Chinese, looks good for a graduation banquet (can't vouch for the food).

20. Saturn Cafe on Oxford -- Vegan 50's diner

21. Perdition Smokehouse on University --new BBQ spot next to Bobby G's that I need to try.

22. Bobby G's Pizza on University -- pizza, beer, TVs, I like Sliver better and if I walked over there I would try Perdition above.

23. Jayakarta on University -- excellent Indonesian food

24. Oasis Grill, CU Sushi, Crunch Korean American Fusion on Center --- uh, all low cost and on the way to BART? Crunch for bibimbap in a crunch.

25. Five on Allston (in the Shattuck Hotel) -- upscale, nice bar.

Great list for the west side. How about this Indian place on University (right off Shattuck towards campus) that has two stories? @IrishCalBear and I went there after the 2007 Tennessee game because literally every other food establishment within 2 miles of campus was jam-packed. Turned out to be pretty good with hot piping naan bread.
