that formation was so illegal I can't believe the refs picked up the flag. The outside man on the left side was an ineligible receiver. He has to be covered up by a TE or WR or the whole formation isn't legal. That is a major mistake by the refs.

late run blitz by the LB and no one on the offense picks it up, but we do get a "chop block" penalty.

That was creative, we ran the exact same play again. Barely worked the first time, failed the second time. Oh, and there's a great drive-killer 15 yard penalty. Where's the facepalm emoticon again?

So all you have to do is tell the ref your are on the line of scrimmage even if you're not?

Game over as far as I'm concerned. Cal came out flat and doesn't appear to be in sync at all. Doesn't help that once again the offensive play calling is just offensive in the extreme. Franklin is a failure at this level. He might have been good at LA tech, but he is too much of a gimmick master to deal with Pac-12 defenses that are fast enough to eat gimmicks. He needs to have bread and butter plays that work.

I guess since the ball was already in the air the defensive player can take a shot at the WR? The shot certainly impeded the WR ability to catch the ball and the DB didn't even look at the ball. What is the rule on this?

I think it must be something in the water that makes it so a defensive coordinator at Cal always leaves the middle wide open for the TE.

It's called "pass interference" and it could also have been a personal foul (launching at a defenseless player).

Oh and we suck.
