Maybe. He still hasn't faced a quality defense this year. These run/gun schemes put up pinball game scores but seem to flame out when up against a really good defense. There's a reason for the SEC's ascendancy and it isn't entirely ESPN's self-serving promotion of the league.
Several very successful teams in the SEC run high-powered spread offenses. A&M and Auburn immediately come to mind.

Yes, scheme based. If Tedford was still our coach, would Goff be putting up 500 yard games?
Like I said, Goff is great. Agree that he can make a variety of throws, which makes him special. I was merely trying to point out that suggesting he will (or even may) be better than Aaron Rodgers is a little overboard.
Goff put up 450 and 7 TDs yesterday in just over half the number of attempts it took Sefo Liufau to accomplish the same. This isn't last season, where he set the record for passing yards and attempts. His passing efficiency and completion percentage is way up from last year. Not all of that is scheme.
I don't recall anybody saying he's better than Aaron Rodgers. What I have seen several posters write is that he is the best Cal QB since Aaron Rodgers, which is fair.
