For those who caught the post game wrap on the P12 channel, they showed the CU kicker taking questions in front of the media after missing three FGs. The poor kid had obviously been crying and was on the verge of tears while answering questions. Felt really bad for the kid, and his misses were all on kicks from 40+ One hit the upright and the others were just wide.

Anyway, is that normal to put the kicker out in front of the media like that? Or is it a d!ck move by Mac to hang his kicker out to dry like that?

That kid was all class and represented himself and his university well.

Kind of a chickensh-t decision by somebody.
One might think the coach would have something to say about which players get "interviewed".

Did Mac appear and explain his goal-line play calling? That was more astounding that missing long FGs.
That play calling was perfect for us, even better than the penalties on him that were also good for us.

I'm going to give somebody the benefit of the doubt and hope they know their players better than anyone else does. I guess that it also depends on the individual player, you let some do this and don't let others give the interview. Not being part of the team, hard to know what goes on. Seems like you really have it in for Mac though.

Wrong, very wrong ... "have it in for Mac"???? He's my favorite opponent coach, a model for his peers !!!!
I think $ark should add Mac's play-calling and over-protesting to refs on the field to his playbook, along with pleading with the AD to come rescue him.

Media requested that the kicker (Will Oliver) be available for post-game questions. Mac told him that he didn't have to do it and Oliver said he wanted to.

I'm still pissed at the in-game performance, but really feel for the kid on a personal level.

Yeah the media requests the player. Coaches don't 'hang players out to dry'.

Mac talked about the last play. Apparently it was a miscommunication. Basically a busted player. Cal was pretty fortunate. It looked to me like it might've been some sortof reverse or misdirection but one of the backs ran the wrong way.

That was my guess, based on what I was told by someone who knows him. Stand-up interview by him, hope he has a game-winner very soon.

Kudos to him, took guts to have to answer questions and be tall with the weight on his shoulders.
Mac's tirades aside, Colorado is a class program. Hope they do well. They gave us almost more than we could handle.

Ilike that?

I was sitting with the kid's parents in the first quarter. They are old friends from the New York days. They raised him well. Cal was all over him when he came out of Harvard-Westlake , but Cal was of a mindset that they would not give a high schooler kicker a full ride. He wanted to come here. Though it is true that yesterday was an "off day" his four year career is outstanding. He has graduated and I was told from a friend of the family's he had a 4.0.

Facing up to the press after a devastating loss was an amazing class act. Not sure I could have done it, or that I know any youn men who could have Ben so composed under such a stressful situation. Keep an eye on him. We may be seeing him on Sunday's next year.

Smart kid. Spent the summer interning at Barclay's in NYC. Want to say he has a job lined up with Goldman, but not sure. If anyone is curious - here is the post game LINK

If I ever run into him, I'll gladly buy a round. Not because of the misses but because he's a class act.
