If you post here, you're singlehandedly responsible for me refusing to ever sit in T 49 again.

The three of you old miserable, cancerous curmudgeons are like walking nails on chalkbards.

First down Colorado: "Great job, Dykes! You suck!"
Nice catch by Colorado: "Great coaching there, Dykes! You're horrible!"
Penalty by Cal: "Great job, Dykes! Your teams have no discipline!!"
Touchdown Colorado: "Great job, Dykes! You're the worst coach in college football!"
"Look at Dykes!! Does he ever talk to his players??"
"Look at Dykes yell at the refs! Great job Dykes! Have some class, Dykes!"
Touchdown, Cal: "We got lucky there. The players will have to figure out a way to win, despite Dykes."
How long is Dykes' contract for? Six years?? Whoever hired him should get fired!"

Literally everything that went wrong, it was all Dykes. Every stinking penalty, Colorado first down, failed Cal first down, Colorado first down, whatever it was.

Thanks to you miserable gasbags, I will never sit in T49. I don't know what gems you came up with in the 2nd half because my friend and I moved to sit by some Bearents in DD. And I won't be back.

I pity the other people in your lives. And if you post here, please, get a grip. Being anywhere near you is pure torture.

It helped, g4r, but I'm still pissed about them ruining my first half. I literally had to plug my right ear to tune those three old miserable cranks out or I was going to go off.

I'm often not in my seats and maybe these jokers don't go to every game because while I've heard gripes before, I've never heard such incessant, inane yammering in any game. There must usually be enough people between me and them that they didn't stick out in the past to the same degree but most of the row behind me was empty so it was like they had a pipeline into my brain.

Absolutely miserable old jerks.

I sit in Row 44 but last year there was this guy in Row 46 who was just insufferable. We haven't seen him so far this year, but we seriously thought about moving seats for this season because of that guy... Maybe he moved up a few rows?
MoragaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Maybe so because I don't remember anything like this in previous years and I was in different seats for the first game.

To top it off, I have the end two seats by the student section in row 49 and when I got there with my 225 lb friend, the guy three seats in was taking up over half our second seat.

I looked at him and nothing. Then I said, "We have 27 and 28 (like he'd never seen me before). So he moved literally an inch to his right. I said we'd need more room than that and he didn't move. His friend had to tell him, "They have those two seats. Move over." Plus the two women in front of us that are season ticketholders have big seat backs so between Joe Clueless, the seatbacks and the crusty curmudgeon trio, I'm out.

They sound like miserable assholes, but at least they bothered to show up. wonder how many critics or pumpers actually attend the games with regularity.

~38k attendance. what a joke.

Our group made the move over from T to the bench back seats after the stadium reopened due to the excessive crowding in T after the remodel. Much happier over there.

Hate to say it but it brings back memories of why we cancelled our season tickets, not to mention the BearBackers and ticket price increases. We had great seats which would cost a small fortune today. Plus, we didn't have to experience the total bastardization of the game day experience. We could enjoy the band the entire game. Between the 30s on the west side was always packed and polite, and they knew how to shout "BEARS" and how to support the Bears, win or lose.

Those three guys certainly sound like certain posters on BI. Maybe your statement will call them out.

you know what contributes to this continual degradation of a good gameday experience? supposedly ardent fans who "know how to support the Bears" citing various reasons why they no longer will go to Cal games.

that, in addition to the trends of corporate marketing/advertising, leads to a stadium of attendees with little passion for Cal football.

i sympathize with the financial reasons, but it's hard for me to understand people--not you in particular--complain about the degradation of the atmosphere when they are unwilling to actually attend and make it a better environment.

uh, getting to Berkeley from Virginia would be tough ... and dropping tickets was just before a move to Seattle where I did enjoy the Cal games but not the bus rides to and from the stadium with fuskie freaks.

like i said, not you in particular. many have made similar complaints, and cannot be bothered to attend home games at the slightest inconvenience.

and another point is that more experienced and passionate fans no longer attending further contributes to the lack of atmosphere.

If you can, move over to Section EE (benchbacks). Donation is $200 per seat plus season ticket costs. Legroom is better (30" vs. 24") and so is elbow room (18.5" per seat in Section EE vs. 17.5" per seat in Section T).

I feel fortunate that we were able to score seats during the Seat Selection Event this year.

Add my recommendation to move to west side benchbacks. Not much miserable negativity from so-called Bear fans, whom we have enough here in BI. Although it was a tense game and the crowd sparse, most everyone around my section were into the game in a good way. As Shocky would put it, get to the game and put your support and energy into the Bears, instead of being a dumb azzs internet hater.

I had the same experience in Sec T, row 35, seat 26 (aisle next to student section) I got the same seat on StubHub for SacState and Colorado, and the same miserable guys sat behind me and loudly bitched out the team and the coaching. Never applauded our successes. It was downright weird, and very annoying. Definitely getting different seats next time.

This sounds suspiciously like the old guys I sat in front of in T in 2012. Midway through the season I started sitting elsewhere. It was awful. One time one of them even brought their young grandson. It was so bad that my wife, who hates when I get into any public confrontation, actually turned around and scolded them. It was truly unbearable.

I moved to EE. I sit under the cover of the club's deck. And I sit with a group of couples who love Cal and enjoy watching the games. Come on over, MB.

Your point is well taken. MB's horrible experience notwithstanding, there's a big difference between the excitement of being in the stands, shouting until the throat burns, being hoarse for a few days ... and watching the game on the internet from a European site fighting through porn spam and unknown downloads.
A big part of the game experience can't be changed too easily or at all. Cal campus in the Fall, the buildings, the memories, Sproul concert, march up to the stadium ... finally, the view from the Campanile watching the sun dive behind the GGB, then wandering someplace to eat and drink (only a little), maybe near campus, maybe in SF.

I'd probably be buying single game tickets and would get to most games if I was still in Los Altos, and also be driving around, up Palm Drive especially, with a Cal Band dvd playing loudly, hating Red. I never worked with a furdie that was worth a damn.
fuskies aren't much better. cougs are cool and good workers.

MB--you used to sit three seats from my buddies and me in T and although I miss the energy of the students, we finally made the move to bench backs in I.. It is a lot more comfortable and no idiots anywhere to be found :-) Also no knees in the back and backs in my knees...I was surprised that when the students all moved to the end zone in OT to be closer to the action the people in T stayed in their seats??

I'm pretty sure I sat below these guys for part of a game a couple of years ago, pre-Dykes. They were just as negative and insufferable then. Did one of them have a duck call?
Hail2Calif
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They must be related to the guys sitting in GG25 10 and 11. Even more irate was the fact that their wives were sitting right in front of us (row 24, 15 and 16) - not only were they constant whiners - but they would insist on walking over every third play to chat with their wives.

Fortunately there were seats behind us so my wife and daughter just moved behind my brother and I - but at some point this season, it is going to get confrontational if we get near sellouts and there is no easy place to move.

I agree with some of the other posters - if you REALLY just hate life so much that you have to hate on everyone and everything our team and coaches try - why go?

Where is the value in spending hard earned money just to complain and while all game long?

Anyways - after last year, it should be clear to anyone this is a rebuilding year - from talent to experience to mental toughness to game management and decisions. We're going to scrap for everything we get - and many times that just isn't going to be enough against the better teams in the conference.

Go Bears!
