ATO is selling stadium club tickets to opponent schools who sell them to their fans. A brief history per ticket office. Before the stadium opened, an ESP committee (fans) gave approval to sell tickets in the clubs to opponent fans. Until this season very few fans took advantage of this program. Sac State brought a small group of adults and families to stadium club. Colorado sold more tickets. The combination of a close score, alcohol, and a young crowd was the cause of the problems. ATO is problem solving but all they've worked on is a list of guidelines for the schools.

Until we sell more to our own, ATO will have to maximize revenue somehow. Sucks, but that's Cal for ya.

That sucks. I do wonder how much they are selling the tickets for and who at CU qualified to buy. $250 a pop isn't that pricey, especially if people are buying plane tickets, staying in a SF hotel in high season, etc considering the free booze.

ATO should really work on a way to disallow discounted seats to be just resold on stubhub (the barcode systems are integrated so it's possible... Stanford does that with visitor Big Game seats). It would also be nice to have a Bear Backer only ticket marketplace - where alum can put up their tickets they can't use (sure let them recoup money), but only Bear Backers can buy. I believe Kansas does this with their nice basketball seats... and due to demand, one still has to be a moderate donor to get the re-sale seats.

You and your little jackass friend can bite me. I had nothing to do with this thread AND I have said nothing critical about Dykes since the season began, but you guys need to bring me into this for no reason. Which is typical of your kind. You start stuff but you don't want anyone to respond.

I don't blast coaches and players at games. As a matter of fact I had a similar experience a couple of years ago with my kids in tow. Four jackasses spending the whole game not just criticizing the coaches and players but mocking player after player. The worst thing was that half the section was as sour the whole time. When the game was over and we lost, I sat my kids down there in the stadium and explained to them we go to games because Cal is Mom and Dad's school, we love our school, we love coming back, and that these players are students representing our school and we root for them because of that, not because they win or are good or bring glory. We honor the players because the are fellow bears and what we saw and heard in that section that day was not what we do.

If you can't tell the difference between going to a stadium and mocking coaches and players at a game, and criticizing the performance of a 1-11 coach on a message board, I don't know what to say to you. I have never mocked Dykes personally. I criticized his performance as a football coach last year. I stand by that criticism. We are 4 weeks in this year and I haven't criticized him at all.

If I saw a substandard professor at Cal, I'd be willing to say the professor was substandard, though I wouldn't go to their class and mock them. If I thought the Chancellor was doing something worthy of criticism, I would criticize it, but I wouldn't go to a public appearance and boo him. If I thought portions of Cal's administration was doing a poor job of supporting students and faculty, I'd say so, though I wouldn't do it in their office. Voicing an opinion doesn't make me like Cal less. I want the best for Cal. And that goes for football coaches the same way it goes for professors.

And so here it is AGAIN. AGAIN you guys drag people into a conversation they aren't involved in so you can attack them personally, while trying to claim the high road.

I have a different problem with our seats. We're in stadium club paying lots of dollars for our two seats. Lots of enthusiastic fans around but also lots of empty seats. ATO sold 30-40 tickets to Buff fans. Many were young and drinking heavily. Several obnoxious Buff fans taunting bear fans at the game. When we purchased the seats, we were told ATO wouldn't sell to opposing teams in clubs. It's been three seasons and it's happening more and more. We enjoy going to the games and want to support the team, but why be harassed in our seats. Home and tv are looking better and better. Calling tomorrow to complain but I doubt that it will change.

Obnoxious opposing fans siting in the Cal section has been an annoyance of mine for quite some time. We sat in section GG for years and would relatively often be saddled with an obnoxious SC or Oregon fan near us, but I thought that annoyance was finally going to be eliminated with the ESP seats. We're now in the Stadium Club and luckily haven't yet had any opposing fans sitting next to us, but we have had to deal with some opposing fans in the Stadium Club concourse area.

Last Saturday I wanted to hit the Stadium Club rest room just before halftime after Colorado recovered the ball when Goff was sacked to avoid having to wait in a big line during halftime (Did anybody else expect that there would be more rest room space in the ESP club area? I think that they should have designed the ESP rest room space to accommodate peak capacity, such as between quarters and at halftime, rather than average capacity, as before the game), and there were several 20-something Colorado fans in the Stadium Club upper concourse area who were quite loud and appeared to be very drunk looking through the glass yelling "Go Buffs," "Yeah!" "Cal sucks" at the top of their lungs. I simply glared at them and then smiled when Colorado missed the FG and politely said, "It might be more prudent to act like your team has actually had a lead before."

I really would prefer it if the ATO or other ESP ticket holders would not sell their ESP tickets to opposing fans.

Why don't opposing fans simply sit in the opposing fan section? Yes, I know those seats aren't great, but when I go to other team's venues, I always sit in the Cal section because I'd rather be with fellow Cal fans than be surrounded by the opposing teams fans in seats on the 50 yard line.

Looks like I'll be sitting in EE down fairly low for the next game, thanks to a generous Bear Insider, so I'll check out EE.

The options given to me in Section T on the student side were rows 34, 41, 62, 66, 67 or 72. Anyone have any experience with those rows/areas in T?

MB, I was in T-32 right on the aisle next to the student section and had no problems. There were a few older guys in 30 and 31 who were pleasant, college students or recent grads on my right and behind us in 33, also pleasant (with plenty of high-fives to go around on big plays). Directly behind us was a couple in perhaps their late-50s, both wearing Cal gear, but Mom was wearing a Buffs hat. They left at half time. I would have no problem sitting with those around me again. However, since the student section is nearly always standing, the south side of the field--especially southeast corner--can be difficult to see.

MB, I'm no expert on row #'s in specific sections, and where the a-holes are located as I choose seats based upon certain static attributes. The jerks will float around and grace us all at some point I imagine...

I'm not sure what you value in a vantage point or location, but I am very, very satisfied with our seats. Having a vomitory wall directly behind is very nice, I feel. It is essentially a seat back. There is no one sitting behind us, so no knees in the back, and because of the depth afforded, our legs and knees have more space. Huge win. Even more so possibly, we can stand-up without blocking anyone's view. I am empathetic to such. My pop needs to stand periodically as it helps his back, and he does so in these seats with no worries or grief. Also really neat is that there is a concrete ledge of sorts behind the bench with enough space to put a water bottle, the Game Day, and have it easily reachable, as opposed to under the bench. On the vomitory railing behind and above, I now secure my "fanny pack" around the base of the post and it hangs just above my shoulder. In there, my bincos, snacks, etc...

Vomitory wall behind = very desirable. If you feel the same, you might want to inquire about availability.

The height above the playing field is important to me as well, and being too low, not being able to see spatial separation, sucks. Just high enough is what I like, without having to go any higher or further away. With the vomitory wall behind, I think most would find that downward perspective desirable...

We have seats 1-4, so very easy to get in and out. We lucked-out a bit I suppose with restroom location too. From those seats, I am in bathroom anywhere from 15 to 20 seconds later. Change of possession relief runs happen without missing a play. Sweet.

We wanted to be in the sun, feel its warmth, but not have it in our faces. Solved with the location selected. The sun is above and behind, but there. On particularly hot days, which there are not many in CMS, the concrete wall behind remains very cool. Did I mention the virtues of sitting in front a vomitory wall?

Something else I'll mention, since I'm being more comprehensive than what I initially intended. Having sat at mid-field and end zones over the years (high school, Cal and NFL games), there are clear perspective benefits from each that one cannot get from the other. With that, at some point I just split the difference, a compromise, and chose the corner, again, about mid way up.

And, if possible, select seats where folks going up/down the stairs will not block the view of the field...

A lot went into my selection a few years back, and the effort was well worth it.

To be clear, jamonit, his "little jackass friend" was a reference to Eeyore's post who posted almost the exact same thing. (maybe I should have boothed Mizery as well). Hence the plural. It was "you guys", not "you guy", but "you guys" was not meant to refer to anyone but those two. I have no issue with guys like you who want to vehemently, sometimes emotionally, argue a position that may contradict my own. I think every Cal fan here, and yes, we are all Cal fans here, deserves that respect.

And I understand that neither believes that anyone they pointed the finger at were actually sitting behind Moraga. It was just another excuse to point at Cal fans that they have disagreed with and accuse them of being crappy fans because of it.

Sorry I missed the other post. I get lumped with people all the time, but I am me. I am excited about where Cal is going and I don't like premature judgements of recruits, players, or coaches. I don't think Dykes deserves all the criticism he gets because of the mess he came into. We had no upper talent last year and this year we finally have some JRs. Next year we should have a bunch of SRs. I like where we are going, but I will also admit that we have a ways to go and Dykes needs to keep proving it. I also feel like we have a lot of work to do this year with our Defense. I think we are in a good place, but we need some breaks to start going our way and better coverage.. and more pressure. Still hoping for 5 wins, but the Def has me feeling a little shaky. WSU will be a huge game. We win that and I like our chances to maybe get to 6 wins and a bowl. We lose and the Washington game is our best hope to get to 5 wins. We lose them both and 5 wins is not likely imo.

The press box rules are pretty tight. No cheering or audible rooting is allowed.

Most adhere to the rule pretty well, though I'd say Nevada was the worst.

MB, a couple things...

I called my contact yesterday, Nick, the Associate Director of Development. Apparently you all know each other, same frat, he at Bama...

He thinks that something can probably be done with this situation, and is reading this thread. It might be good reading material for others on the staff, as I recommended. He saw where you have been in communications with Jenna, and if I heard him correctly, he'll reach-out to her.

BTW, seats 7 & 8 are available in our row (season ticket-wise), if that might interest you. That was my reason for calling Nick yesterday... I get the impression that there's something better out there for you.
