The only game left on the schedule where it is remotely possible is the big game assuming we are both pretty highly ranked at that time at the end of the season, which is unlikely but not out of the question

If BYU is undefeated at the end of the season and Cal is halfway decent, they might come to Berkeley then.

Ah, thats a good call. We would be the bubble bursters. There would be people from the Power 5 conferences rooting for us to completely shut them out of the playoffs. Not that they have a good chance of getting in anyways even if they win out

Well if we're talking rosy scenarios, why not Game Day at Levi's with the hypothetical 6-1 Bears "hosting" the hypothetical 7-0 Ducks?

Yup exactly. Undefeated BYU heading into their final game of the year vs Cal -- BYU trying to make the playoffs would be a compelling plotline. Maybe enough to pull GameDay. Off course they would have to be undefeated and people would have to think we have a decent chance of beating them.

- Texas A&M @ Alabama (thank you state of Mississippi for giving each a loss this week! This is no longer guaranteed to be a top 5 matchup)
- Notre Dame @ Florida State (this will likely be a Top 5 matchup if both win next week. But they already did Tallahassee once this year, so who knows)

We need to beat UW and UCLA needs to beat Oregon. If UCLA won yesterday, I think we'd have a good shot of Gameday coming to Berkeley under that scenario. The Bruin choke job probably leaves this as a pipe dream, unfortunately.

Serious question: do you guys really care about gameday? I don't feel like it's a big deal any more. There is so much competing media coverage now and I don't think I've seen gameday in 5+ years. On the other hand, gameday for you guys might be like 60 minutes for my parents.

I don't watch as much as I did in the mid-2000s, when we would get mentions a lot of weeks. And we were in two of the featured Game Day games, albeit as the visitors.

I do think the program plays a very important role in influencing opinions of pollsters and therefore indirectly (and possibly even directly) influences the Playoff Committee. I certainly don't think we're in the conversation this year, but the more Game Days in Pac-12 country, the better for the league and for Cal.

UCLA would be good and seems the most realistic now...but Big Game would be way better, if all the necessary business is taken care of up to that point.

The Play would be shown 10,000 times. They'd roll out Horseface Elway and all the Bears, Joe Kapp, Moen, and then it would be about a top flight offense against an old school defensive team. Crips and Bloods, Furd vs. Cal. It would be bitchen and yeah, we'd take those damn trees and the Axe.

Would our fans show up for Game Day? I just imagine the crew set up on Sproul and us having 30 fans in the background at 7am. Would be cool though.

We had a pretty good showing for the basketball version of Game Day a few years back. I think that's when Rece Davis picked up the words for Bear Territory as he mentioned it in his blog.

Of course, that wasn't a 7am show.

Students camp out when they take over buildings, why not for Gameday? It would be something different and fun.

Gameday is stil really huge and influential, as yesteday showed.

Ratings have actually gone up in the past few years for Gameday.

If anything, it would be a great showcase for nearly 2 million viewers.

Gameday has always wanted to come here. They love these unique college campuses like Ole Miss yesterday. They like something different.

You're right, it wasn't. We showed up at 5:30 am for that one.

If we can't sell out the UW game, I don't like our chances of a potential UCLA gameday.
