Recommendations for UW viewing and dinner in DTLA?

That day is my 30th and because I'm a space nerd/former shuttle engineer, i was planning to check out Endeavour at the california science center in DTLA (next to USC's campus). The plan for the UW game was originally to head to Busby's, but if there's a few good bar and dinner options in DTLA, it could save some driving (and I've never really done DTLA for a day before, so it could be fun).

Any recommendations? I did note that USC is away at Arizona that weekend... I'd assume that would be good and mean the area isn't deluged with SC fans, though it might mean some bars get packed in the area.

ESPN sports bar in LA Live area? I may need a place to watch too (I'm in LA for the Wazzu and UW games). There is a 10% chance I fly up for the UW game. It would have been more probable if we had a 1pm game (as I could fly down the same day), but there is a chance my wife lets me stay over and come back down to LA on the first SWA flight on Sunday (we fly back on Sunday).

I was just about to post the same - LA Live area next to Staples will be the most populated spot combining good food and sports viewing. Of course lots of other dining options depending on your taste. Not so sure about other good places to watch the game though

Also the space shuttle is cool but the exhibit isn't ready for prime time. Right now it's just sitting in a hangar. Eventually they will stand it vertically and have a multi-level exhibit, but who knows when that will happen.

EDIT: Also, if you decide to go to Busby's West after the shuttle, I'd recommend using the Expo Line. You can park at Culver City, take the train to USC, and take the train back to Culver City. The drive from CC to SM is way easier than USC to SM.

They need an east side alumni bar. I never went to Busby's. Too far to drive from the east side and of course you'd never want to do it after drinking.

Busby s is nice but a) I've been there 100 times and b) it's not just a cal bar.. every big 10 team and others cal it home too. Wisconsin frequently has it on lockdown

Easy enough to get a table and TV at say the parlour in Hollywood or maybe reillys on the sunset strip

can you get a table for 10-12 at ESPN? I've been there and think it would work

I'm more excited all the sudden about the DTLA (not hollywood/SM) concept... most of my friends that would be in town haven't done the DTLA thing, so it could be fun. That said, I do think we'd need ~10 seats at our table. Any suggestions (if ESPNzone doesn't fit the bill)?

Daily Grill, 6th Street Tavern, Public School, Wurstkuche, City Tavern are some of the spots I like.

Will Sam's Hofbrau have the game on?

Wusrtkuche is not a sports bar. Try Big Wangs on Grand Ave. they have a ton of TVs

PS, happy birthday sadbuttrue! I'm going to be out of town and can't make the festivities.

Yeah I don't even think Wurstkuche has a TV anywhere there...

Busby's is a Cal bar. They turn every tv in the biggest room to Cal and only have the Cal audio. Have been there the last 2 weeks and it has been great. They even bring in Top Dogs if that's your thing and have Cal specials during the game. I'll be there again this week.

I like your style. Probably the doyers game. You see the fiasco about a year ago where the guy lost his legs?

DId ESPNZone close yet?I remember seeing that they were going to. Is there still a mega-sports bar in the area or was it replaced?

so big wangs confirmed they'll get it and that they should have space, so I'm going to get the game tehre. Probably hitting the Edison up after dinner.

Tentatively we were thinking Cosa Nostra for dinner... not too pricey, yelp reviews were decent, tough to go wrong with Italian. Any one have any experience there? Any other recommendations? Hopefully we'll have time to check out Wurstchke(sp) and some other spots too.

Try Yardhouse in LA LIVE, lots of TV's, good beer selection, decent food. It can get VERY crowded but I'd call ahead to see if they will show the CAL game.
