I avoid watching Gameday because it seems to be more show than about the games for the week. I can understand why they invited Katy though, she's very popular with the college age crowd and I get a feeling that ESPN was a bit worried about the turnout. It would be a bit like holding Gameday at Cal for a Cal-Furd game. The alumni that will be attending aren't exactly the type of crowd Gameday wants to show on TV, so they find someone who will attract the college kids. I ended up seeing the last few minutes and noticed that Katy pretty much played to the fans often turning her back to the camera. I'm sure that was something they told her to do.

Oh, it was terrific.

The reason Gameday is so successful is because it's a fun, entertaining show that doesn't take itself so seriously -- as well as a show that delves deeply into serious college football.

If you want all academic stuff about college football, there are plenty of alternatives.

Gameday, in my opinion, had gotten a little stale this year.

The season kicked off from a shopping mall in Ft. Worth because the first big game was at JerryWorld.

They visited Fargo a few weeks back, even though they visited Fargo last year.

Last week, they had Kenny Chesney on. He always seems to be on. It seems like you get the same old same same old boring guest pickers.

I like that they shook it up a little bit. Who cares if she isn't a college football fan? A lot of these celebrity guest pickers aren't, either.

It was fun, it was different, it was entertaining.

And in the context of their first ever hottie totty visit to Ole Miss, it was a memorable show.

And if it annoyed the hell out of you, keep in mind that she was on for like 10 minutes of a 180 minute show.

It was Gameday's 1st-ever visit to The Grove. They would've gotten a MASSIVE crowd regardless of whether Katy Perry visited or not.

Wait, how is a Bama -Ole Miss crowd like Cal-Furd?

Katy Perry has said her mom attended UC Berkeley (probably in the 60s). Don't know if she graduated, though.

I also agree that Gameday has gotten stale. I don't see great in depth analysis and they seem to have lost the spirit of college football. The group needs to be shaken up.

ATM looks terrible. Like 3 easy dropped passes in one quarter watching. Of course, since miss st somehow is ranked 12 it's still a 'quality loss in the SEC gauntlet'

I watched her appearance just now. No one expected her to know anything about football, but she was obviously prepared to be funny, and she played the crowd and they loved it, so she was a good guest. The only thing that sucked was that stupid thing she was wearing. She should have worn an Ole Miss t-shirt, size boys M.
