Where do I start? Trevor Davis!!

Start with special teams!! Which in the end, their ST failure decided the game.

This season is driving me insane. I am losing my mind every game day!!

As my CAL buddy just said: This makes us square with the football gods.

Leach with some awful coaching at the end of the last series on the goal line. I will take it.

Cougars Couging it trumps CAL being CAL.

I am +1 to this thread. Our record has been rectified but I would certainly not pin this win on the defense. Goofy luck and I feel bad for the Cougs and their fans. And, ducky23, thanks for the insight, I really love that $C did take a play from our defensive playbook/how to lose a game playbook.

At this point a 7 point win will seem like a ho hum blow-out

My Notes on the Scorecard:

1. Hung out with @IrishCalBear and by near-midnight, I was expended.
2. I have to admit, I was yelling at the TV for Cal to concede a TD with a little over 1 min left so that we could get the ball back. I thought they had the FG in the bag.
3. My transfer from the 808 making us proud - Trevor Davis!
4. Funny how Curtis Conway (a WR of all people) seemed to be so disgusted with the game because there was no defense. It was pretty hilarious and he was cringing like he acid reflux or something.
5. I thought that last lunge for the TD was good -- does the ball have to cross the back edge of the striped TD line? In any case, how did it get placed at the 2?
6. Lasco is now Beast Mode Jr.
7. That 4th down conversion to Harper was just huge.
8. We had no pass rush, but there was one play where Scarlett just moved his guy back like 5 yards and almost made Halliday's own player run into him (then Scarlett still almost tripped him behind the line)
9. I went to the Dodger game on Friday. This game v. Wazzu makes up for the AZ game, and the Sat. game makes up for Friday. Great to see Furd, $C and UCLA all lose as well. As Ice Cube said, "I didn't even have to use my AK ... today was good day." [first of all, that's not an American issue weapon so why would he have that, but I digress...]

I was thinking the same thing after WSU crossed the 30. But Cal's defense rose up for the stop they needed.

there was defense, it just wasn't effective. Both offenses were taking what the defenses were giving them and both O-lines were slowing the pass rush enough to allow receivers to get open. It was definitely frustrating to watch.

In college once your knee touches the ball is dead. The lunge came after a knee touched according to the refs. The ball just has to touch the front edge of the line to score.

He's a huge part of the offense and keeps teams from just swallowing up the pass. If they try to hard to stop the throws wide Lasco will crush them up the middle with running plays.

Great play call too. WSU sent everyone after Rubenzer and had no one left home to stop a reverse.

Cal could get a push, but never quite got to Halliday. I did see 3 blatant holds that allowed WSU to break some big plays, but overall Cal just never got the pass rush. It's funny, our wide rushers aren't pulling of a speed rush, and the bull rush up the middle while effective is just a bit slow. Of course, halliday didn't hold the ball long and WSU has an experienced O-line. I wonder how we'll do against Oregon or Furd (teams with a much less experienced O-line.)
