Sheesh!

What does "Blitz" mean?

We do not apply any pressure on the opposing QB....we give the QB so much time to kill or DBs.....

We should have blitzed 11 each down.

Connor made us pay every time we sent a blitz. Then again, he made us pay every time we didn't. So everyone is half right.

We dropped everyone repeatedly and still got shredded. Bringing pressure only works when the secondary can cover those initial few seconds post snap, we don't have that ability yet.

We did not apply any sort of meaningful rush, especially on obvious passing downs - second or third and long. We went with 3 or 4 man fronts nearly all the time. Open your eyes. Some of you are in denial. What game did YOU watch?

Now take a look at WSU. Even though we won, the WSU defense did its best to apply pressure, and were more effective bringing the heat against Goff, then we were against Halliday. Keep in mind that two of our touchdowns were kickoff returns. Where would we have been without those?

We did blitz quite a bit but Halliday is really good at getting rid of the ball, both on hot reads and his normal progression. He rarely has the ball in his hand beyond 3 seconds and knows where his safety valve is. One possible reason why we didn't blitz more was because it wasn't working.

One example is on the final drive of the game. With the ball in our territory, maybe 25 yard line, we sent Lowe on a safety blitz and he made it through the line untouched. Halliday saw him, turned to his left, and fired a quick wr screen. When the WR beat his man, Lowe wasn't behind him to back him up, and it went for a 20-ish yard gain inside the 5. The drive ultimately failed with the missed FG at 0:19 but there you have one example of the blitz not working.

Forcing the QB for the leg bumpers to beat us throwing the ball is likely the strategy. They shouldn't be able to beat us on the ground.

What we need to do is CB blitz! That way if we get burnt there is one less DB to blame

Funny. The coug forum is saying that they blitzed too much and got burned.
You do realize with all that coug blitzing, we scored on every single 2nd half possession. That's absurd.

Trust me. Scheme was not the problem. Failure to blitz was not the problem. Our Dbs are young and are growing. It is what it is. Right now, we just got to stay calm and drop 60.

Me thinks you are confusing the meaning of a "blitz" with "meaningful rush". Those two things are not equal.
