I asked Stanford coach David Shaw this week if, by benching Goff so often, whether Cal "was playing into your hands." "Not necessarily," he said, "because (Rubenzer) was very effective." He said Rubenzer "ran extremely well" and "his role in the game was well orchestrated." Shaw is not about to criticize any coach's strategy, much less one from across the bay.

but, Rube couldn't even run the ball into the end zone on multiple attempts

But he did criticize, did he not, when saying Lawlor's TD was not a catch even though the league now says it was, even after the league announcement?!

Shaw probably would have preferred we stick with Rubenzer the whole time.

We use Rube the same way he uses Ty Montgomery, so he's just looking into the mirror.

Rubenzer was used well when not throwing.

If my team had won I would praise the other teams quarterbacks, too, of course.

After beating us by 71 points over the last two years, it makes sense that Shaw wouldn't want to say anything to diminish Dykes' credibility.

If I were David Shaw, I would want Sonny Dykes to remain our coach forever.

The two TD reversals were shameful. I would bet money that the replay official is a furd alumnus. It is a disgrace to our league.

But the two terrible calls didn't change anything. The game wasn't close enough for it to matter. They blew us out by 21 points. Even if we get an extra 4 points on that play, they could have easily run it in at the end of the game to inflate the score even more.

I'm sure he liked everything we did. I loved everything Oregon State did when we played them.

I have a big problem when 'offensive genius' Shaw likes what we do on offense. Tony may add it to his TFS website but I consider it a slam on our offensive coaches. I give it the same weight as if Tom Holmoe said he liked what we did with Rube.
