I wonder if they might make an appearance at the women's NCAA hoops Cal-Texas game

Missy will continue to train in Berkeley, and the NCAA title will bring more recruits. Teri Mc has something special going on.

Go Bears!

couldn't ask for better representatives of Cal & UC Berkeley. Missy gets all the media attention, but really, credit to the entire team..!

Momentum is in full swing, their incoming class might be the best ever.

Missy giving credit to the entire team and her coach ... declaring herself a life-long Golden Bear, Blue & Gold in her blood.
She came to be part of a TEAM, and she certainly was. She did her part; the other girls, women, did their parts.
NCAA Champions.

Yes, especially nice after last year's disappointing finish at the championships (finished a distant 2nd to this year's runner up, Georgia, I think)?

We finished 3rd behind Furd. There was some unfortunate DQ action last year.

What's the story on Missy leaving CAL? Is she turning pro? Congrats to the swim team. I believe Georgia was heavily favored to repeat and we blew them out of the water. Great job

The plan from the beginning was for Missy to swim collegiately for two years then focus training on the 2016 Olympics. Training with a collegiate program is far different than preparing for the Olympics. Plus turning professional allows Missy to recoup some of the endorsement money she could've raked in if she didn't come swim for Cal.

She has signed with an agent. Same guy who reps Colin K.

Turning pro, but will still be on campus in the short term...taking classes! Agree with what most have said, a real pleasure to have her representing CAL. A true team player...never about her, but always about how what she does helps the team.

She was HUGE for both Cal and the swimming community. She represents so many student athlete swimmers and water polo players who go unheralded and who graduate. The football team should drink some of that Cal pool water!!

Good for Missy and we are certainly very fortunate she chose to represent us after the Olympics these last two years. Swimmers don't get the endorsements that other sports like football, basketball, soccer players get so I certainly can't begrudge her decision. She was awesome for us

Worth noting that Teri has pulled in a HUGE recruiting class including the best high school swimmer in the country (a freestyle sprinter).

Yeah, don't taint the football board with aquatics stories about Cal winning national titles, All Americans, and successful grads!

Missy probably stays in Berkeley to train for the Olympics, but she hasn't made a final decision yet. There's no question she loves Cal and will eventually earn a Cal degree, but it may not play out exactly as planned. Hope she doesn't take too much crap from BI if she chooses to train elsewhere.

Oh, like Jessica Hardy who also left Cal w/o a degree and trained with Trojan Aquatics and won medals and set world records while earning a whole $100k in swimsuit endorsements? Sigh...

Given that Missy will probably be the most medalled female US athlete in the upcoming olympics, her endorsement package is going to be much bigger than that.

no way. Missy has done more for Cal than just about any athlete in recent memory. she's untouchable!!

Lots of people in swimming resent Cal's success and Teri McKeever will get roasted if Missy trains elsewhere or even if she trains with Dave Durden. Personally think Missy will have a tough time emotionally staying at Cal and not being part of the team.

Cal's haters on swimswam are a funny, and nasty, bunch. Interesting that Georgia doesn't seem to attract so much hate, even with their consecutive titles.

That's part of it, but "Berkeley" embodies a whole lot of things that SEC fans can't stand. Pretty much every SwimSwam thread about Missy spins out of control into bizarre loopy tangents about gender identity, fecal matter, and cults. Georgia fans can't fathom why Missy and Ledecky would want to swim for the Bay Area duopoly. Georgia's coach was suspended for a year for enrolling a star swimmer in an extra class during finals and SEC fans seemed to think it was some kind of witch hunt.
