Woulard was the Elite 11 MVP that year too. Goff was an Elite 11 that year and Rubenzer the year after. There are a LOT of misses on the list. Seems like Bridgewater, Winston, Goff, Hackenberg (maybe) are the only ones that have done well the past 5 years. There may be some in the last few lists that may shine - time will tell.

I watched Rosen alot while at SJB - and even though we all know the difference at the next level - he is good - nice touch and can throw deep and to spots. He WAS on Cal's radar for awhile just before Bosco won the HS NC. I think he will do better than Barkley did as a frosh at SC..could be wrong. I am not sure about his leadership qualities.

The thing about Rosen that has me not sipping the kool aide with him is that he played at St. John Bosco. That team is LOADED. There is rampant speculation among the Catholic schools that they have gone full U$C with their recruiting. With that, it makes me wonder about the Leinart/any Miami QB not named Kosar phenomenon. Maybe he really is that good or maybe it is easy to look good with all that talent around him. Losing Woulard is either going to be minor or a devastating loss.

woulard couldn't beat out little Neu last year. What I heard is he just doesn't have "it". anyways if Rosen isn't the second coming of Luck, the UCLA faithless will be all over him. biggest issue will be their pass pro. They were awful last year at pass pro, but some of it was Hundley. Rosen cannot move, so....

Neuheisel is pretty decent as a plan B, he's a 5th yr Sr IIRC, one of the most serviceable backup QBs in the conference.

Goff was a bright light in 2013 and started as a freshman. Yet, and we know how good he is now, he made many mistakes as the starting QB that he didn't make in 2014. Can we expect Rosen to be any better than Jared was a frosh? I don't think so. In fact, I would be surprised if he even matches the Jared Goff of 2013.

I don't think the example of an Elite 11 guy transferring because he couldn't beat an Elite 11 guy ends up making the Elite 11 look bad.

Goff's confidence is overflowing right now. He was heard saying a few weeks ago that he expects Cal to be playing USC in the CCG this season.

honestly wouldn't take too much in this down year for the conference. especially if Hogan continues to be as average as i think he will, and if Oregon doesn't get things up & running quickly with Adams, bc really, the north is not that competitive.

on a slightly separate note, Goff is easily as good a QB as Kessler (and likely better), when you account for the difference in OL protection.
