*Aaron Rodgers didn't attend our game. He hates us. WAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
*That guy said his high school instead of Cal during game intros. WAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That blog that covers Cal is the worst. Unfortunately they get more pub as representatives of Cal than they deserve so people think those clowns (and the clowns constantly harping about these issues on this forum) actually represent the fan base. STFU already.

Agree on ALL fronts. And I'm glad you brought up the lousy blog representation - a sad sack bunch of crybabies who get butthurt over Rodgers not attending games and still act like they're in a complicated sexual relationship with Jeff Tedford. When they're not crying about Rodgers or getting weepy over JT (he must be SOOOOO glad to not have to deal with them anymore), they're crouching in the fetal position, sucking their thumbs and repeatedly posting "DOOM!" in the comments like retarded children that know only one joke and the parents have to pretend it's still funny. It's sad that our blog representation is such drama queens.

Our team is improving and the Cal family is back. Instead of acting like the creepy stalker girlfriend over Rodgers, how about some gratitude for all the OTHER amazing players who are not only on the sidelines but returning to COACH. And win or lose, we fans can show a little dignity.

Go Bears!!

Y'all should stop wussing out and CALL PEOPLE OUT directly. Name names damn it.

Then after that, put on brown shirts and jack boots and march around.

I don't really care about the name/intro thing or if Rodgers is in Berkeley to taking a dump in Wisc...but frankly this is about as silly.

He played FB at Cal and graduated from Cal in 1983. He also took part in "The Play" but was not given any credit because of a grand conspiracy within Bear Insider. That is why when we say "Booth" it is code for: "don't talk about it."

Anyone who refuses to acknowledge everything i have said is just part of that grand conspiracy.:p

I was talking with someone at the game on Saturday about Rodgers, and he said that there is an NCAA rule that prohibits one from mentioning their college if they come out early. I thought that sounded strange, but he says that's why guys like Lynch, etc. never mention their college. I don't track FB close enough to know that, but I'm throwing it out there.

I was actually surprised that none of the Packers from Cal showed up (least I don't think so). I think that is not unusual when a team is visiting and the home college team is in town. Seem to recall seeing Lynch at some games. But whatever.

Agree. All the posters who are wearing kneepads or bending over for Rodgers need to take a step back and look at how pitiful they're being. Who cares? the current value of our team has nothing to do with Rodgers' lack of representation of Cal...it has to do with how well our current players are doing and how well they're representing the university. Do you honestly hear any recruit say, "Oh man, Aaron Rodgers doesn't rep Cal on SNF, I'm not going there now"?

I doubt there's a restriction on naming a school if you left early. OTOH, it is the NFL so who knows what weirdness it has hatched.

You're the party that is ignoring the elephant in the room and acting emotional here.

AR is the biggest NFL star right now, perhaps the most high-profile athlete in the US today. For a recruit to meet and greet with him on a Cal sideline during a recruiting visit, that would be one of the most important event in their lives, and the highlight of their recruiting visit. And in today's new media landscape and celebrity culture that feeling would be shared and broadcast across most of the current and future recruiting classes. And for those watching the game, that could have been a very strong and live association for the program.

It's potentially a huge boost to the Cal brand and a tangible asset in our recruiting, which has yet to fully recover in places like SoCal, where we used to be perceived a better program than UCLA or ASU. Yes we have Marshawn, who's nearly the same caliber persona as AR, and many others on our side, but that is still one huge feather in our cap that we would have had and that is not there. And any HS or middle school football player watching player intros on Sundays would have had a solid introduction to the Cal brand.

And yes, it is upsetting, if you care about Cal football I don't see how it's not. It's kind of unfortunate that our top two athletes in both sports (Kidd) do not show the passion towards their alma mater that most other alumni share. In Rodgers' case it's related to his overly sensitive personality but part of it is Tedford's firing, and that as I've mentioned that part could eventually be salvaged.
BeachyBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The reason it's not upsetting to me (and sooooo NOT an "elephant in the room") is because I can see this program is FAR bigger than any one person and whatever personal decisions they make. If you want to have a hissy fit over what one player does or doesn't do, that's up to you. Cal football is bigger than a former QB and getting upset because of what any one person does or doesn't do makes you and the rest of the fan base engaging in this drama look small.

Rodgers was a very good QB who played for most of two years. His first year he and his team did ok - he had some good games and some really bad ones. He threw a clunker against Oregon State that was as bad as any Cal QB has played in any game. The defense was a work in progress but improved. His second year he was certainly good, but he had a lot of help, including a #2 running back who has been seen on our sidelines and has had a pretty ok NFL career in his own right and a very, very good defense. I loved him at Cal and love him in the NFL, but he didn't define the Tedford Era, much less Cal football. Would it be nice if he'd schmooze recruits for his alma mater? Sure would. If he can't be bothered, that can't be helped and isn't worth us wasting our time and energy tilting at windmills.

But yah - looking at the big picture and being grounded instead of getting my panties in a wad over one dude, TOTALLY emotional and immature. You got me.

Go Bears!!

Give it a rest.

I don't see DeSean Jackson, Deandre Coleman, Steve Williams, Marc Anthony, Keenan Allen, Shane Vereen, Marvin Jones, LaVelle Hawkins, JJ Arrington, Alex Mack, Mitchell Schwartz, Mychal Kendricks, Mike Mohamed, Desmond Bishop, Chris Conte, Tyson Alualu, Matt Anger, Tony Gonzalez, Nnamdi Asomugha, Scott Fujita, Deltha O'Neal, Nick Harris, Thomas DeCoud, Kyle Boller, Joe Igber, Matt Giordano, Pat Barnes, Sekou Sanyika, Langston Walker, Regan Upshaw, Doug Brien, Ryan Longwell, or Dave Barr at any of our games lately. Should we excommunicate them all, too?

Sheesh.

One of the problems with this board is it is called, "Growls" which suggests that it is a place to whine.

Another problem is the "vocal minority" -- we have some really crappy ones and I am disappointed that bloggers would think it represented the rest of us.

Yes he was there... Keenan was there last year when SD came to play Oakland, Thomas DeCoud was there last year also. Same with Jackson. Most of the time it just isn't reported or posted. I never hear Michigan complaining that Brady doesnt go there during games.

I would think the QB might have more game planning commitments than others on the team. I would tell you that as much as I love Cal, I wouldn't be at a game if I had game prep I had to do for Sunday.

actually Tony Gonzalez & Mariucci gave us some love on an NFL telecast last week that we were 4-0, they were both really happy about it. But I get the nature of your post .

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I kind of wish Cal fans who post would allow themselves a 24 hour sobering up period on Sundays before they post belligerent, arrogant and obnoxious stuff. But, if that happened, traffic on the site would almost completely grind to a hault. For that reason, I am trying to give myself a 24 hour period before I bother to read anything.

But yeah, there's a lot of things I wish Cal fans would stop whining about, officiating isn't one of them. It is well documented around the nation that the pac-12 officiating is really bad. So that seems to be a legitimate issue.

I notice that the Dykes haters don't post so much these days. So that is good.
