No, not Eric Abrams.

Jonathan Pollard who graduated from Stanford in 1976 and then spied for Israel by stealing and selling classified US documents is now a free man after 30 years of incarceration. He is a rich one too.

If someone is caught spying for Israel and incarcerated they are given $2500 a month until freed. In addition, Pollard's wife was given a free residence in Israel compliments of the Israeli government. It is alleged that he received many dollars more than just the monthly stipend.

Will Israel pay to fly his wife to the game so she can share in the festivities?

BTW, in case anybody is not aware: Be very careful to NOT mention former Stanfurd player "EA". We have a tacit agreement with them, whereby we don't mention that person and they don't mention our former player "_ _" (except for his contributions to a special Berkeley afternoon in a certain November back in the early '80s).

Weighing the positives and negatives, it's probably an agreement we want to abide by.

When I saw the headline I immediately thought Condoleezza Rice, but then remembered none of those criminals went to jail.

No, but he will be sitting in the Chancellor's box during the game and will serve as the honorary drum major of the Furd Band, which involves running around in circles with your pants down by your ankles.

When compared to the corrupt Army officers building the Union Pacific and other railroad barons; he doesn't look so bad. It seems that the business philosophy of building an enterprise and making money off it's operations for decades, is now passe. The UP builders made their money by lucrative construction contracts and financing; once finished another group was brought into operate the railroad (it was too big to fail). The Big Four built a better railroad and had to squeeze every penny out of operations to become rich; they must have failed "Get Rich Quick Schemes" in school.
UP also realized early that their fortune was as a bridge route and that developing local economies was a waste of resources. The CP/SP depended on sending local product to distant markets and was an engine for the development of the economies of Oregon California and Arizona.
CP/SP (aka the Big Four, inc Stanford) were responsible for a legal decision that haunts our society today, "Corporations are people". Maybe the railroads management style magnified in Norris' The Octopus qualifies them as robber barons, but "Corporations are People" had had far greater and long lasting ramifications.

For a summary of how a court reporter in Santa Clara in 1886 set a legal precedent that the Supreme Court honors to this day see:

Woof Blitzher at CNN is probably excited about his boy J.P.'s release.

When clicking on this thread, I was expecting to read that Auburn Calloway was released and that Furd named their field FedEx Field.

Eh. Really only works if you are caught spying against the US. Most countries take it more seriously, and you would never collect.
