And in the speculation department... Goff leading the band in fight for california at the end looked a lot like a guy saying goodbye to his last game at CMS. What a way to finish.

Just Wow! The best game of the year. Goff was amazing. I believe he also leads the Pac-12 in passing yards and TD's

The tale of two teams ... what did Sonny say at half-time ... he lit a fire in their bellies.
Art Kaufman has done it again ... the D was great at BBDB.

Buried in the RB depth chart, Tre and Khalfani have risen to the top.

Signature win, this one ... doomed at half, Palms of Victory at the end.

Yes, thought the same thing. That's how he wanted to go out.

What was Graham doing with clock management? Hoping to block to the kick?

that's what I was thinking when Cal first got into field goal range. His defense couldn't stop Cal and I almost thought he'd be better off telling his defense to allow a quick TD and then try to get a return TD as they were hitting some long passes. Anderson wasn't missing a 30 yard field goal from the center of the field and Graham allowed 30 seconds to come off the clock. It meant his team was basically betting that Anderson would miss

And seriously, as you all are saying, the Bears deserve serious congratulations for sticking with and playing for each other and finishing the season with such class. I feel especially happy for McClure, he has been injured a lot, but he has remained a classy teammate and classy spokesman for the team and for Cal. He deserves serious respect and gratitude, these have been tough years for the Bears, and he has kept his head up high.

It was a surprisingly solid defensive plan. I was very frustrated with the way that ASU seemed to be able to convert any 3rd and long by finding an open receiver, but they got nothing easy near the end zone in the 2nd half. Even their one TD was nearly stopped, but Dozier missed the tackle.

Great game for Cal

I was wondering the same thing. I was very happy to watch the clock run down at that point. Plus, he didn't call his last time out before the kick. Strange, to say the least.

For Goodness sakes, our Coaches were given the game ball 2 weeks ago.

By you aholes? no by the players, who pulled off some magic tonight.

7 wins ... some ugly losses but this game fades those memories with a great, gutty, comeback Win.

It's weird but this game had a different feel than when we were down to the top p12 teams. It always felt to me like we would come back and win. Had the same feeling in the wsu game.

I wouldn't call my last TO either. When you call the TO the kicker then knows you have no more to freeze me. On the other hand if you still have it the kicker isn't sure if you're going to call it or not.

Unfortunately it didn't happen, but it would have been quite a sight if Cal had carried the kickers for Wazzoo last year and Texas this year off the field.

Well, there was really no opportunity to leave in the 2nd half. I will admit, while the losers in this thread were moaning in the 1st half, I was plotting an end-of-3rd Qtr exit if we were behind by more than a TD because I'm kind of a wuss in the cold (unless I'm snowboarding) and it obviously didn't feel like Cal could make a game of it. Like it was mentioned above, in the 3rd Qtr when we were scoring TDs and ASU was settling for field goals, I had this optimistic feeling that we could win it. I didn't think that we were going to choke it away. When the offense is clicking we have reason to be optimistic. Other notes:

I admit when Goff pooched it I was one of the people booing. It really felt like Dykes was surrendering.

Although there was a lot of pressure, I was in shock how good the pass pro was. There were plays where he had a ton of time to go through his progressions.

Although Goff was on fire in the 2nd half, all game long he was throwing a lot of balls that were slightly off-target, forcing receivers to dive for balls and give up what would have been big YAC gains. Still, he had the game of his life, with scrambling for 1st downs several times, a nice 2-pt conversion, and some slick sack-avoiding moves.

Looks like Chad Hansen will do a nice job as one of the guys picking up the slack with Davis, Harris, Powe, Treggs, and Anderson all moving on.

Rubenzer played with a lot of heart. I've seen so many times defenders running down the field as a guy was headed for the end zone and never make that last diving tackle attempt when they appeared to be in range. You could tell Rubenzer used every ounce of his strength and ability to stop several breakaways.

Anderson kept kicking these high short kick-offs and I was screaming for them to kick a line-drive. Finally they kick a line drive and it bounced exactly as you would hope. But then on the next kick-off they were back to same old routine. I don't get it.

I can't remember the last time I saw such an exciting game at Memorial (I missed the Colorado game last year). It must have been the 2012 UCLA game (which turned into a blowout), or the 2009 Arizona game. They are so few and far-between.

Oh and I was one of the people who predicted a 7-5 season. :p

I'll admit, I went to bed. I was tired, and tired of being disappointed. Had we lost, everyone would be calling for coaches heads. Amazing how one half of football changes peoples' perspectives. When you consider we were missing lasco and two key defensive players, this win was extra special. This team had heart all year. The defense has to improve. We have to do a better job recruiting, but it's hard to argue that the program hasn't been heading in the right direction for the last few years, and I really liked what I saw in Forrest in his limited minutes. Next year, most of the tough games should be at home. Another solid recruiting year and we should build on this and maybe eke out 9 or even 10 next year. Steady progress.

This game was a lot more exciting than last year's Colorado game.
ASU is a much better team than Colorado
Cal fell way behind by 21 midway in the 2d Qtr and it looked like Cal would be 28 points down by half time.
Cal had to fight hard on the comeback since ASU did not quit but kept scoring (FG's yes but these were still points)
Cal had to keep the pedal-to-the-metal every second it could not make any mistakes.
The only real mistake was Dozier's flubbed tackle which turned out the be a blessing in disguise since it gave Cal the ball back with 2:30 on the clock.
Cal's final drive started deep in Cal's end of the field and twice in that drive it looked like it was all over for Cal.
