You can't mean that. Sonny tried to gain leverage and couldn't. Not the best move, but not that surprising. Don't you want to see what he does in 2016? I sure do. If he wins 7 games next year, with all his own players and no Goff? I'll hope he stays many, many years. He's a hard guy to dislike. And right now, this year he is a winner, no matter what sort of game was played earlier this week.

Here's the problem: No matter how one feels about Dykes (and I'm not an admirer), I think this whole thing sorts out as a negative for Cal football.

Let me see if I got this correctly. He is the lowest paid HC in the Pac-12. Cal offered him an extension on his contract. The extension still would have made him the lowest paid head coach. He interviews for the HC job at Missouri a job that pays more than 1 1/2 times his current salary. More than likely he was trying to use it as leverage against Cal because his record at Cal didn't warrant a job offer. Cal fans that don't like him in the first place go ballistic saying he should be fired immediately There is no way an established winning coach is coming to Cal at a price we can afford. Let that sink in. Some people throw out names that are laughable. Some are names of former Cal players who have never coached a lick at any level. Whether you like it or not Sonny is going to be the coach next year if he wants it. I am not a SD sunshine pumper. He has improved every year, if he can get Goff to come back next year we should have a decent season, if not then it's probably his last year in Berkeley.

I think the issue more is that his agent put out the Virginia and south carolina rumors and SOMEONE _MAY_ have given the tidbit "mentally moved on".

We surived and tolerated JT's NFL feelers during the good years. I think few of us would have begrudged SOnny an interview with the Mizzu job given the pay bump. It was the additional gas poured into the dumpster that went beyond "It is a business" kind of behavior to some actions which will have a detrimental impact on the program (and probably HURT Sonny more because of how it will hurt his recruiting and relationship with his players).

95..Had Jeremiah Parker (Parker who went to Cal as a DE and later drafted by the NY Giants) was on my team..and Dee Moronkola was our RB/DB..he ended up going to Wazzu and played on their Rose Bowl team and was all-pac10 DB. We were loaded with guys who went on to play in college heh.

Goff might make the difference in 1 or 2 wins next year.
And it won't matter for Dykes since folks want to know how Dykes does without Goff.

If the TFS continues to fail against the better teams, Dykes and or Franklin is gone with or without Goff.
