Interesting bit about the coaching paranoia. IMHO I think if your AD isn't competent enough to hire on their own in what he or she is looking for...get a new AD. Why are universities paying these guys 6 and 7 figures to the search firms to essentially do what the AD should be doing? Why not take that 6 figures you would pay the search firm and put it into the assistant coaching pool? Seems like a gigantic waste of money to me.
