His picks lost the game today....but no Raider QB has had 30 TDs in a season since the Mad Bomber had 34 in 1969. Hopefully better days lie ahead. Cold and wet at O.Co today with no pay off for the fan effort. Going forward, the Raiders, like Cal, need pass rusher and secondary upgrades.

Please, this is not a Raider board. Many of us dislike the Raiders. There are plenty of NFL boards to discuss the Raiders. The NFL kinda sucks and the Raiders and their thug gansta fan base (at least down in Southern California) certainly do suck.

Yeah, Carr looks scary.... I wonder why they didn't touch upon his and Rodgers' (tenuous) connection.

They both know Tedford.

Good thing we didn't recruit him

Didn't Carr really, REALLY want to go to Cal, but Tedford had given the q.b. scholly to Sweeny amid speculation that it was a favor for Tedford's mentor (Jim Sweeny, tedfords coach at Fresno)?

Carr really reminds me of a young Favre; strong arm, diverse delivery, reckless and can look spectacular and stupid in the same game. Of the current crop of young qb's, he may have the highest ceiling - though Bortles is looking awfully good as well.

Carr is a really good QB and the right fit for the Raiders, but Goff is already miles ahead of Carr in pocket presence.
Whoever mentored Carr went overboard in teaching him to stay in the pocket.
3 problems with that:
1) Goff stays in the pocket too long and either gets sacked or throws a pick.
2) Goff does not know how to move within the pocket very well and the results are the same as #1
3) Goff is not very good at escaping the pocket and when he does he does not throw very accurately.

These observations are very surprising because I thought that he did those things rather well as a rookie.
I must not have been paying attention.

Carr is frustating in the same way that Goff is.
Great skills but seems to have his worst games at the worst times.
Carr tries to do too much.
Goff tries to do too much.
The result is the same.

For Carr, it is really specifically the 4th quarter. But part of the blame is on the OC, who does not know when to run and when to throw when in a tight game late.

Both the Chiefs game and the Packers game were mismanaged and very winnable had Carr protected the ball better.
Had the Raiders won those 2 games, the Raiders would be in control of their own destiny for a playoff spot.
Instead they are eliminated.

But bearister is right. A big part of the problem is the Raiders defense. Some of the CB play is great and some is horrible. Hayden was a great experiment but it isn't working.
Another problem, like Cal, is the ST play. The return guys need to do a better job of giving Carr some field position. Stop letting punts roll.

As a Raider fan it is interesting to see the parallels between them and Cal. Both teams leave too many winnable games in the loss column and for similar reasons.

I think all teams with limitations of talent and depth of that tend to have similar issues, no? For example non starters on ST which represent next up level athletes on a sub 500 squad of starters; talented qb on said team tries to over compensate; GM of said team builds offense first ahead of D to put fans in seats, etc, etc.

You must live in Southern California. This isn't a Raider board but there's so much BS that goes out here like politics and religion, at least it's football related. If you don't like it, don't read it.
