He can afford to sit out the first couple of games, the big game will be at Carolina. Hawks and Panthers are most likely to win it all.

In the NFL playoffs, every game is a do or die, must-win game. So I don't think Marshawn can afford to sit out even the first playoff game against Minnesota.

As for a potential Seattle vs. Carolina matchup, that would happen in the divisional playoffs just one week later. Seattle is the lowest seeded NFC playoff team at #6. Thus, if Seattle gets past Washington, Seattle plays the top seeded NFC playoff team in the divisional round: Carolina.

So if Marshawn sat out the first two playoff games, even assuming Seattle won both games, Seattle's opponent in the NFC championship game would be one of Arizona, Green Bay, or Washington.
